My vote is for Gilboa only because they have showers and better facilities than the other quarries. But lets set up a vote to see where we're going to hold this thing. Sound good?

I didn't see you at Portage, but the viz really sucked. (and somehow managed to get even worse on Sunday!)

-Rob

We were camped by the north west corner - a little bit down from the stairs. The vis was not as bad as last year down at that end but on sunday...yikes, it was was very chalky. However, we did manage to stumble on to most of the underwater sites...

I'd prob prefer Gilboa for M&G - Shade, facilities, docks and so forth

Cheers

My vote is for Gilboa, I have been to all of them. Mike has more support at his site than the rest. You can guarantee to get Nitrox or hyperclean there when needed. Not to mention hot showers (white star will not have thier's done till late summer, go figure state park), plus there is enough wood there to have awesome bonfires! Can we have this shindig during August, the weather is better during that time. Plus, I would like it to coinside with my going away party.

White Star's a county park, not a state park... all rangers, maintenance etc are funded from a county park tax levy that I vote for. So... in order to keep the tax levy low... you can't have everything at once....

Enjoy my county tax dollars at work... Frankly I think they do excellent job with what they have... especially consider how many county parks there are....

Thanks for helping keep it going! I do enjoy diving there, more than Gilboa, actually!

I've got a cousin up there, I'll have to tell her to vote for the levies, or however they do it there.

Cool, when do you want to hook up and go diving? I plan on getting in alot of dives between now and before I leave(might even do some traveling to NC & FL). That should hold me over till I find some dive locations in Kansas. I cannot wait to get out of Ohio now, this place sucks(funny I was raised here and hate it :11: ).

WB thanks for the correction a PM would have sufficed.

Your park system is a fine one. I work part time as a Ranger for a park system not too far from you and appreciate the work everyone has put in to make White Star a fine park. I don't know what the other parks are like in your county, but WS is really nice. The quarry itself is probably one of the best around. Too bad they don't have hot showers and better camp sites. I think that a quarry the size of WS could rake in the money if they offered more ammenities. Also if someone put up a small hotel or bed and breakfast closer to the quarry I believe they'd make a lot of money, too.

One complaint... I got a short air fill on my HP E-120 tank! But that's not any fault of the park or it's staff. Oh well, I'll check it closer next time.
