There's been a lot of discussion regarding Portage, Gilboa and Whitestar Quarries and the pros and cons of each wrt diving and camping. Do we have a a consensus (sp?) yet? Is it time for a change considering the last three official gatherings were at Gilboa? Or do we need a poll (with only those planning on attending voting)?

p.s. Rook - there's only about 30 minute drive difference for you between the quarries in question.

Well, I originally brought up Portage since I'd never been there. But, I went there last weekend, and the vis was horrible. So, all considered, mabe Gilboa would be best.

I'd have to agree... The last three times I've been to Portage were horrible...going tomrrow for the DAN BBQ. Perhaps I should not get my hopes up. White Star's vis was not so bad but I've never camped at White Star so I don't know how that would be..........

At least here you have subjects that know what you like and how you like it!!!!
Yes I do!!!
Pretty much the luckiest princess I know, except for my daughter. She's got me wrapped around her finger. :)

I interviewed with my company in Naples. I'm still waiting to find out if I get the position. It still is not 'Officially Open'. But I interviewed for it already. Which is a really GOOD sign. But you never know who might post for it locally. And then there wouldn't be any relocation expenses either..........I just have to be patient. (Princess is not known for her patience. :D)

Hey Chobosen,

White Star was really good yesterday (7/16) vis was about 20-25 feet at the north end by the boat ramp and block house. Water was warm on the surface and as you'd expect colder below 17 feet.

I'd prefer diving White Star but camping is better at Gilboa because of the hot showers and being able to camp really close to entry points.

just based on reponses, its looking to be gilboa. i'm going, to be there, and then leaving the country next weekend. so if dates change, it has to be backwards not forwards.
