Curious to see what other peoples opinion/experience is,

Went to a small local dive shop to get a tank visual done (on a brand new tank). It passed and they put a sticker (big one with PADI logo) with the date/year punched out and everything seemed normal to me.

A few weeks later, went to a different LDS to get it filled and the guy gave me some grief about the sticker not having the shop's name/address that did the inspection on the sticker. He said it was too generic and anyone could get the sticker and put it on thier tank even though it had PADI on it. He asked who did the inspection, I told him the shop name, and he filled it but he warned me that not every place will accept that sticker?

Anyone run into this before, improper sticker? Too generic? Just PADI, no shop name/address? Should it bother me, will I have trouble getting it filled?

many lds will not accept generic sticker..ned to have name of facility that did the vis..all about being able to transfer liability

Absolutely likely and observed. Many shops want to know that a bonafide business with commercial liability coverage is behind the sticker. On an immediate note, as he said, anyone can get or make stickers and they don't want anyone getting hurt.

You should VIP anyones cylinders unless you are insured. Its bad buisness and is why shops want stickers with reputable shop logos/names on them. I would add that I know many shop owners who wont fill your cylinders unless there is an inspectors number on the VIP sticker as well.
