Preference. The floating compass on the rim of the Teric is way nicer and easier to use than the Perdix compass. Yes, it's just personal preference but I haven't run across a single person yet who doesn't agree.

I do agree with you on this. I use a Garmin now, but that Teric feature was very nice and I had it enabled when I had a Teric.

Currently own a peregrine tx, and into the Garmin ecosystem for their regular watches... would it make sense to purchase an mk3i (sell the other Garmin watch) or stay within the shearwater ecosystem and get another peregrine or perdix 2 as a redundant.. Not into Tec yet, but would like to move into it next year if that makes a difference

If you go the Garmin route, you will need a Garmin transmitter for AI. So getting another Shearwater would save some money. But that may be a wash depending on how much you could sell the Garmin watch for.

The Rec or Tec bath really doesn’t matter between Perdix 2 vs MK3i. Both will work fine for that.

In favor of the Garmin, the Descent will give you heart rate and GPS entry and exit locations. If those might be useful, get the Garmin.

I have a Perdix and a G1 as daily watch. They play very well together. Upgrading for AI redundancy etc. depends on how much you like spending money.

For reference I have a tactix 7 pro, so I could probably sell it and offset the cost of the mk3i haha.

Yeah I think I’ll have to see if there’s someone local I can test the mk3i from. I don’t think the additional features of the t2 transmitter would benefit me at this point but the technology and tracking is what does

Yeah, I don’t mind the spending money part if it makes sense. Maybe I’ll hold off until later in the year for sales 😂

New rumor is that Garmin's Fenix 8 will have some sort of dive capability -- probably recreational limit, so not for the tech divers -- so maybe hold off another week or two before making any decisions.

Ahh just saw a video going over everything For the new fenix, yeah limited to 40m of use 🥲.

Might hold off a bit and reevaluate around next year.
