Hello,

I'm using Garmin products for the first time with X50i. Never used any other Garmin dive computer before.

Computer is brand new and after some dives, I was unable to import my dives to Subsurface on mac. I was able to add dives to subsurface only by exporting them from Garmin Dive app, sending to mac and then choosing mount point as Garmin directory or something. That works but it is a lot of work compared to plugging it in and clicking download dives.

I choose Vendor: Garmin and Dive Computer: Descent. I leave Mount point empty(read it should be empty on somewhere) but I get this error(even with force download of all dives option):
Error
No new dives downloaded from dive computer

I think this means my mount point setting must be set to something, but I have no idea what.

Did anyone successfully imported dives from X50i to Subsurface on a mac?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Oh BTW when I check subsurface log, this is what I get:
[0.000001] INFO: Open MTP device
[0.000084] INFO: Read: size=0, data=
[0.000303] DEBUG: Attempting to connect to mtp device
[0.001690] DEBUG: Garmin/mtp: successfully connected with 1 raw devices
[0.001775] DEBUG: Garmin/mtp: skipping Garmin raw device 091e/51a6, as it is not a dive computer / does not support MTP

Hello,

Did anyone successfully imported dives from X50i to Subsurface on a mac?

Hi @bartucxp. You're generally better asking for assistance on the Subsurface mailing list or the Google Group (Subsurface Divelog - Google Groups)

I can't speak for Mac, but the Garmin connectivity on Windows is also a bit finnicky. I don't have an x50i (Mk2i here), and the least frustrating way for me is to connect the watch to my PC then open the watch folder and copy the .FIT files to my hard drive, and import from there.

The process is a PIA, and deliberately so ("Based on a specific request from Garmin, we will not be able to support BLE downloads on any platform." Subsurface Divelog) but it is doable.

The best way is to

1. Log in to Garmin Connect on your mac: https://sso.garmin.com/portal/sso/e...ervice=https://connect.garmin.com/modern/home
2. Navigate to the dive you want to port.
3. From the screen showing the dive you want to port, click the gear in the upper right hand corner.
4. Select "export file."
5. Find the zipped file in your downloads folder and double click it.
6. Move the unzipped .fit file to a folder (I named mine "fit files" and nested it under a folder called "backup dive log."
7. Rename to .fit file to the dive number or something else sane just in case you need to work with it later.
8. In subsurface select import from the top bar then "import log files."
9. Change the file type to "all files."
10. Click on the .fit file you just downloaded and then click "open."
11. Go into the new dive in Subsurface and fix the stuff that wasn't properly imported (it will just be a couple things).
Finally: Curse Garmin for denying simple bluetooth downloading to third party apps even though customers paid a lot of money for their dive computers and don't deserve to deal with this petty BS.

Alternative way: import a csv list. This is faster to import, but a lot less detail gets ported into the log in my experience. Since its inferior I won't go step by step through that method.
