Hello guys,

I'm asking for knowledge from those of you who service regulators!
I have an MK19 Evo with two G260s that are still fairly new.

I bought the whole package brand new in August 2024, and I've only done around 10 dives in tropical water with it (I had to wait before I could start using them).

I had no issues with the reg until the 10th dive, but after a break of about two weeks, both went KO on the 11th dive.

The diving crew was kind enough to provide a spare. I tried to have mine serviced and fixed here in Coron, Philippines, but it's quite difficult. Anyway, that's not the point of this thread…

I'm attaching pictures of the diaphragms from both my regs after opening them. I was quite shocked by their condition and was wondering if any of you have ever seen this before. Do you guys have any theories on the root cause? Even the diaphargm in itself feels extra thin !

Just to clarify, the most damaged one is from my secondary, which I barely used (if you can even say I used the primary at all o_O)

Thanks for your anwsers !

Attacked by a corrosive liquid? Fell into a wet suit rinse tank with a strong cleaner in it?

If that's what the second stages look like, I'd be concerned about the first stage too.

I suspect something like that + maybe “storage” in direct sunlight
The spotting looks a bit like how dry suit latex seals get damaged in the heat of Egypt

I will rule out direct sunlight, it really wasn't.
Strong liquid in rinse tank, i hope not, i don't remember doing that but mistake happens so i can't really rule this one out...

I'm trying to get a service kit + diaphargm in here but it's a bit challeging.

Hopefully the first stage has no problem, but i'm also questioning that obviously  So it will be check
I see myselft as very careful with my gear... what a blow 🥺

Remove the plastic trim cap on the mk19 and check if the clear environmental seal diaphragm has wear (even tho I suspect not, these should be a bit more rugged)

Also check the IP

I've seen cockroaches eat silicone rubber, but that doesn't really look like they ate specific holes in it. Those diaphragms should last more than a dozen years with normal use? The cover was removed with the proper tool, yes?

Damn! Cockroaches do go through anything!!

Tagged for reference.

Not sure how to remove that cap, i don't want to break anything. IP looks clear to me, i've put pictures...

Yes, just a pin to remove and then removing the cover by rotating it, nothing crazy.
I didn't do more cause i don't have the spare parts anyway.

Just push with your finger nail or a soft plastic flat pick
It’s really easy to remove

Good thing I just did that, my environmental diaphragm has a sand rock stuck by its groove, need to give it a better look
