CoolTech:Old pirate lore?
I ran fishing boats here in SE FL for 10 years before I got into diving in '94 and if bananas were on the boat, we didn't catch fish. I'm convinced it's more than pirate lore.

Get on de boat, mon, da baaa-nana boat mon... get a suntan! Hmm banana's on a boat has something to do with the spiders that live amongst the banana plants and would sometimes end up on the boats headed down river.. nothing like having a large arachnid hop on you in the dark and do something fun like blot out the moon with its large body as it runs across your face!
In the years running stone crab traps, I'd never had problems with banana's on board.. women on board.. alien abductions and probes
.. or just about anything else lore bore.

I've heard that Capt. Bouncer Smith will make people take off their Fruit o' the Looms and toss them overboard! He won't even tolerate a picture of one on a tag!

All the weekend diving is from the pilot house location correct?????
Since I haven't heard from anyone needing a spot to crash I have changed from my 30' camper to a pop-up, but will still be staying at Pennekamp. about 5 minutes or so away.

No, I'd have never done that, he's about the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Besides bananas weren't allowed on our boat either so I respect the belief.
