I have a C4 and just take out one battery to disable it...
Also, it is a eLED so I don't have to worry about melt-downs seeing they run very cool.
even if you're not worried about meltdowns it doesn't mean the TSA guys will think the same way. They don't know one light from another. I wonder if they would consider removing 1 battery enough if they're going to make an issue of it, I have no idea. It might still show up on xray as something they don't like.

You raise an excellent point and seeing that the rules seem to change with each TSA agent you deal with...
As far as batteries I've been through with no problems with no batteries, some batteries and all batteries in my light, but who knows what will happen next time.
What is a diver to do, I'll tell you - nothing, I'll do what they say because I want to dive in exotic places with my own equipment.
