there are guided tours of the Op house; Sydney Opera House - Tours

Fairy and i did visit the opera house but didnt do the tour... i didnt think aboot it to be honest and then i was to scared to tag onto the back of one just starting ;)

You'll just have to keep him there until we visit in 2009...

I was talking to Neets last night on the phone, and she told me the dates, I was quietly (maybe not so quietly) swearing under my breath at the timing. Oh well...

I'll make sure to be in PI for your 2009 visit El - I'm sure Maggie will insist :D

Z...

heheheheh - i will have to check the tides for Kurnell diving

There are so many things to do in and around Sydney and we can only stay for 4 nights ;-).
El Orans wants to do some diving (1 day?, I checked out the kurnell diving -> looks promising), opera house (a must), climbing the bridge (don't know yet)
While searching the internet I found a site about the Australian museum (nature culture discover). Is it good ? I'm always interested in the history of the places I see.
There is also a Sydney aquarium ? Does anyone know if it is worth visiting ?

Almitywife was pretty easy to understand and I just need a few words translated. e.g. dodgy, which I have since adapted into my own vocab.

If you can, go to Featherdale. I loved that place. Oh, and my mom absolutely LOVED the crystal kangaroo with the joey in her pouch. And my kid loved his cigarettes and thought the graphic depictions of the evils of smoking, mouth cancer and eye problems, were very cool.:rofl3: Said it was the best present I ever got him. I also got him a Victoria Bitter t-shirt at the airport that came with a free cap, which I gave to my brother. I am a great mom, huh? Giving my kid cigarettes and a beer t-shirt. No wonder he came out the way he did.

i've been there. i kinda like it more than the wildlife next door. never seen so many sharks that close in my life (well, that was quite new for me!). that is where i've seen the weedy seadragon and a whole lot of other strange underwater creatures.

its something that you would want not to miss the first time but can opt not to do the second time.

Sydney is fun. I stayed at the Lord Nelson Brewery Pub, The Rocks, which is a short easy walk to Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay transport and Opera House. Great atmosphere, brew own beer, and short walk up steps to room after being overseved.

Bridge can be walked, traffic span height, without charge of $175 to go up high in structure. Beautiful either way.

Opera house has tours, I took early morning before tour bus loads started showing up. Worth it in my opinion. They sell tickets for specific entrance times, and if you get in early, you can see more since most productions didn't start till later.

If you are use to large national musuems, ie: Paris, London, Washington, D.C., then stick with those.

Enjoyed city, especailly Darling Harbour and Chinatown.

Hope it helps. John

Aquarium is not a must, just a nice thing to see. Maritime museum looks nice but we have the same in Holland :)
Blue mountains look beautiful and it seems really something I should see in Australia.

Some other things I would love to see (besides scrapbooking I love dollhouses so I'm always looking forward to see houses in the original state) :
  • Elizabeth bay house
  • the rock toy museum
  • Susannah place

And diving of course.......:14:

Oh, and if we could see some aboriginal art : awesome.

 im gonna have to google what elizabeth bay house & Susannah place is! i think i know the rocks toy thing though

pity youre not here on the weekend, the Rocks Markets is very nice
