Does anyone know how deep the DS4/ATX50 combination is considered suitable for. I'm currently looking for some new regs for diving to a maximum of 50m but I'd like something that will be suitable for deeper diving later if I decide to get Trimix trained.

Apeks DS4 first stage favorite in tech diving reliable good performance regs un any depth, DS4 for back gas setting or stage bottle.

Well, the Apeks design has been taken deeper than 1000' (details on their website), so I suspect they'll go as deep as you want to go. (Click on 'testimonial' on the left column, other hyperlinks in blue there also)

Most of the guys I dive with use them. They'll be fine regs for you.

Any reg that passes "US Navy Class A" standards on air at 50m will do even better on helium based mixes at greater depths. In other words, the real test is this type of deep air dive.

Add that to the fact that Apex builds all their regs the same way (seriously...all of them have the same parts kit; TX, ATX, XTX 20-200) the only ones not suitable for deep dives are the 20's and 40's. Even then the 40's are just 50's without inhalation adjustment. The 20's however are dedicated warmwater regs.

I'm diving a DST/TX50 (one gen behind the ATX50). I bought that reg setup specifically because I am planning on tech diving in the future.
