I see that you are a relatively new diver...this used to happen to me and it was horrible but with time , it has stopped. Not sure why !

dont drink ocean water; it will only make it worse.

if you want to get fancy, you can drink bottled water while underwater.

I take a Caprisun with me for long dives. Or one of those new baby food sachets. Works like a charm.

I guess swishing your mouth with whatever water you're diving in may help? I haven't had dry mouth, so don't know for sure. I have taken salt water in my mouth (just for fun & spit it out) my whole life with no problems from stuff in the ocean. Not sure if I'd do that in a lake, especially a small one.

Likewise - for simply rehydrating my mouth even sea water will work. Simple swill and spit.

Have heard a few people doing this - guess it comes down to opening it carefully to avoid too much water getting in. Will try for myself next time I am out.

Caprisun packet doesn't let water get in. You squeeze it into your mouth.

Military divers have their hydration packs with them as they dive. This allows them to breathe, hold, drop their regulator, insert Camelback mouthpiece, sip, drop Camelback mouthpiece, reinsert regulator, exhale, breathe. I'v also seen cave divers with a Camelback mounted on their tank bands for the same purpose. If you go this route, practice the evolution in a pool BEFORE you try it on a dive.

Try putting a small hard candy in your mouth and sucking on it throughout the dive, or just stuffing it in your cheek. This will keep your saliva brewing forcing you to swallow the saliva keeping your throat moist.
Try this in your living room first with your mask on and regulator in your mouth. If you can do it without choking on the surface you can do it underwater.

No offense but that plan sounds terrible lol
