Dry Gloves (Calling UP)

We just finished our Tech 1 class and I must say I really liked Andrew's drysuit. We had him measure us to get one, but I am not sure if I am ready to drop that chunk of change yet or not. Considering I have an Abysmal suit that fits "ok" for now. I am getting ready to do a few upgrades to mine. I am going to move my dump valve, add pockets, pee valve (diapers suck) and Sonya reccomended dry gloves to stop the leaks around my boney wrist. Uncle Pug I have heard you talk about the Diving Concepts system many times, but when I go to their web site I can't figure out which ones you use. Is the ring system a big clunker of a ring and how do they attatch to keep from stretching out the current seal? Well any help and pictures of your suit would be appreciated. Also we will be putting together a trip report real soon. It was an awsome class and focused on things that I never really thought about. Then the things I thought were really going to be focused on were explained rather quickly and easily....go figure, there I go thinking again.:bonk:

I am triing to get all this done before I transfer to Colorado this summer for some real cold water diving.

Yes... we use the Diving Concepts drygloves... the ones with the big clunky rings Sturdy is what I like to call them.

You can use the gloves with or without a wrist seal.I prefer to use a wrist seal in case my glove gets a hole http://www.divingconcepts.com/link5.htm

Also there is a rumor that there will soon be a neoprene glove option instead of the rubber glove.

Gents,
I recently spoke with Chris at COVCI and he passed on the pricing for the Diving Concepts dry gloves. I appreciate everyone at Scuba Baord who sent me his way - I feel like he is offering me a solid deal. Chris mentioned that he has both the blue gloves (as Uncle Pug has) and the new 2mm crushed neoprene ones available. Do you recommend one over the other?

Who inquired to Chris at covci about the gloves. He got me a demo pair, and has since started to sell them to everyone.

From reading your post, it seems as though you are worried about the rings streching your latex seals. That won't happen. A latex seal has a memory, meaning it will return to its original manufactured demensions.

I dove the drygloves all last winter, and dove my suit without them all summer. I didn't have any trouble with the seals at all.

I cant help you on which drysuit to purchase, but the DC drygloves are great.

how do they attatch to keep from stretching out the current seal? Well any help and pictures of your suit would be appreciated.

Did Pug's pics and cwb's trip report make it clear how the ring system is attached to the wrist seals? Basically, there are two plastic rings (one internal and one external) that are fitted to one of the ridges of the suit-side adapter and keep the ring system in place against the seal. There shouldn't be a whole lot of stretching...I know lots of people who who "un-install" the system for the summer...no damage.

No concern about tearing a seal and flooding your suit with those gloves? What about tearing a seal just placing the seal over the ring?

That is the only reason I haven't taken the attached glove "plunge".

I know there are some glove models that do not use the suit seal to link the glove to the suit.

In other examples the rings are permanently installed on the suit, thereby leaving the seals intact in case of a glove and or ring failure. I thought the Bare model was like this.
