You can install the gloves so the wrist seal remains around your wrist, or it isnt.

Your correct, some gloves are glued directly onto the suit material instesd of the seal, but I think they all are permanent. If you find some that dont attach to the seal, but are removeable, let me know, I want some!

Yep, you COULD tear a seal putting the gloves on if you didn't use any caution, but you won't tear a seal if you do use caution.

No concern about tearing a seal and flooding your suit with those gloves? What about tearing a seal just placing the seal over the ring?

That is the only reason I haven't taken the attached glove "plunge".

Even without drygloves there is a risk of tearing your seals and flooding your suit. I guess it depends on how careful you are.

I like the idea of have non-permanent attachment rings because I dove my drysuit all year (including two salt-water trips to Florida in Feb & Nov). Many times when water temps allow it, I like to dive wet gloves or sans gloves. This is easier without a bulky permanent ring attached. I had over 130 dives this year (each one in a dry suit), and had the dry gloves off and on the suit several times without incident.

One quick note.....my rings are the newer larger style.I have a XL Bare trilam Hd and decided to keep my inner wrist seals intact incase of flooding. The rings just barely and i mean just barely fit through the sleeve for keeping the seals intact with your wrist. So if you have a trilam suit with small diameter sleeves you may have to go the no wrist seal method.Chris told me he recommends and dives his suit with no wrist seals and has never had a failure with them.I just prefer to have the extra protection of the wrist seal just in case. heres the link for use with no inner seals http://www.divingconcepts.com/link4.htm

the new ones are larger and I was just barely able to put them on my Andy's trilam... they went on the CF200 easily.

Here is a photo (sorry.. it is blurry) that shows the wrist seals still intact. It is my experience that the wrist seals last much longer using rings.

I can remove the rings and the seals will still work fine.

BTW... when I replaced my gloves I shortened them.

Again I apologize for the fuzzy picture but this shows the section of wheelbarrow innertube covering the otherwise exposed wristseal and external o-ring.

The tube I cut the sections from had a blue stripe going around the circumference and that gives you an idea of how wide a section of tubing I cut to make these cuff protectors.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for posting such inforamtive replies and the pictures helped me understand the system much better. I will have to email Chris to get a price.

One more question: do you guys recommend getting the gloves with liners or adding liners in yourself. Plus how durable are the gloves? Is it something you need to keep lots of spares of or just 2 or 3? Well thanks for the info

Scrappy

either way... lined or unlined... your choice.

Shane and I have the lined ones and have a dryer to dry them out when wet... liners would be easier since you could just throw them into the wash. We each keep a set of spares on hand (I have mine already mounted on an extra set of rings.)

However as long as you aren't grabbing at stuff they are very durable... shoot they make these things tough enough for the commercial fishery so even if you are grabbing stuff they hold up reasonably well.

When I get a small cut, hole or potential hole I usually patch it with aquaseal.

King Kong Matt once bubbled...
Basically, there are two plastic rings (one internal and one external) that are fitted to one of the ridges of the suit-side adapter and keep the ring system in place against the seal.
Matt the Diving Concepts rings do not work this way. There is one ring that goes on the wrist seal and one ring that goes on the glove.

The ring that goes on the wrist seal is pushed into place down a sleeve that has been turned inside out... then the o-ring is put in place... next the sleeve is turned rightside out again... this is the tough part... getting the ring back through the doubled over sleeve.

I have been trying to figure a way to install the rings straight into the sleeve by stretching and holding open the wrist seal rolled over the internal o-ring.... I know somebody out there must have it figured out!

Just checked mine again...you're right, my bad. I thought there was an additional ring on the outside to hold the entire deal in place.
