there is something similar out there - dunno what it's called 'cause I've never been u/w so long to need it (brrrrr!)

But I'm sure you'll get some info from a cave diver...but alas...no making millions on a new gadget for diving..

:water: Well I was cleaning out my closet and found my "Camelback" and wondered if anyone ever thought about using one for rehydrating underwater. Maybe integrating one into a BC (they are fairly small and have a bites switch to open it up)

Just a thought.

I just swish my mouth out with whatever water I'm in.

Salt water?? I dont think that is so wise. ;) I dont know the systems people use, i wouldnt think most are in the water long enough - those doing deco maybe.

Why not?

What does your doctor tell you to gargle with for strep throat?

I love swishing cold saltwater through my teeth.

Course, I love swishing tequila through my teeth, too, so maybe it's just me.

That's the point.

Assuming you were healthy and correctly hydrated at the beginning of the dive, the amount of liquid you could embibe -during- the average dive would be inconsequential.

So why carry all the extra rigamarole just to swish your dry mouth our once or twice during a dive?

Hmmmm....

technique not generally recommended for Hazmat diving :)
Or diving in Victoria bc near the sewage outflow...

har har eeeewwwww gross

I really love diving everywhere, my site repertoire unique, but why someone would dive in sewage (without a significant amount of money involved) is beyond me.

It's not like you can keep the water out of your mouth.

I've been in quarries, lakes, rivers and drainage canals from Northern Ohio to West Palm Beach, and never been in water I wouldn't put in my mouth (Although Lake Okeechobee and the C-5 would bang an 8.5 on the skankmeter).

But whatever blows yer hair back, honey.

we sometimes take our water with us when we are doing long surface swims. its also nice to take on deeper dives when we tend to hang out for a full 5 min safety stop, at the very least it is something to do when hanging on a line, and its not a possible fail point.

Any non fizzy drink in a non rigid container can be drunk.

The foil packaged fruit juice or cardboard squeezy juice containers with straws are fine.
