This Sunday 9/21/03 a group of divers will be diving Lake Cumberland. Anyone interested in going along is welcome. The first dive will be at the lower end of L.C. around grider hill. Visibility is expected to be around 20-25 feet. We are going on a Treasure Hunt looking for a Bimini top that was lost in around 35 feet of water.
The second dive will be near the Dam in a cove area that max. out at 40 feet. Visibility there is expected to be even better then the first dive.
If you want to meet some new divers and try some new spots here's your opportunity. Call us at 606 561-4536 and join us for some cool dives. :)

Next weekend the 26 & 27 I can most likley arrange to get down there. My dive buddy and I have been wanting to find some better dive sites at LC. We have dove 4 to 5 miles down lake of Conley Bottom a few times along the cliff side and once at Submerine Island by the dam. Do you have a boat or are these shore dives you are doing? 20 to 25 ft of vis sounds pretty good. The last time I dove there it was much less then that. Let me know if you will be diving next week or when you plan another dive. The first two weekends in October are out for me due to other commitments. Are there air fills on the Lake at Grider or Beaver Creek? I heard there was but never checked it out for sure. Look forward to hearing from you.

Cincibob,

I'm sorry to be getting back to you so late. My computer got a case of the virus and has been out of commision for the last two weeks.
Ryans campground is on the lower end of Lake Cumberland. We actually just started diving it about two months ago. Max. depth is around 65 feet. The bottom composition is mud so staying off the bottom is a must. However, the visibility has been great at depth. A rock wall extends down to about 40 feet and then it is as flat as can be. The area is off the main lake in an inlet that is probably 100 yards wide. Believe it or not, the first and only thermocline is at 39 feet.
The campground seems to be open to the general public. It looked pretty nice from what we could see. The waters edge is maybe ten feet from the vehicles.
We will be back down there next Sunday (for sure),. You're more then welcome to join us!
