I don't recall what the surgery was called, but, my daughter had her lymph nodes remove from her inner thigh. Because of this, she retains fluid in the leg down to the ankles. It worstens after any kind of lengthy excercise and can be with some pain. I would like her to try diving, but, because of this condition, she fears the pain and swelling from diving. If she wears a full exposure suit, would she indeed, swell up like any other exercise? If she her elastic leggings would that cause other problems from a dive?

Sorry if this is elsewhere on this forum. I did try a quick search with no results.

I would seek advise from her doctor. I would imagine that she will have difficulty because diving involves alot of leg movement. I would be concerned with swelling cutting off circulation. Lymphectomy?

As for the exercise part, her diving can be limited to boat diving in which she steps off the platform and does minimal kicking and exertion. A lot can be seen and experienced just drifting along with an occasional fin kick to manuveur around. My concern would be the pressure effects on this condition. I don't think the elastic leggings should be a problem. In fact, the pressure may mean she doesn't even need to use them while diving. Best to talk to a dive doc.

a wetsuit would work in a very similar way to elastic legging I would think, you might want to consider that generally a human beings blood pressure increases significantly when immersed. I dont know how this would affect your daughter, but is something that you should discuss with your doc.
