My point was more of dropping, throwing anchors and in using proper scope. It seems many would use 100' to anchor in 90'.
 
When i said I am not a master captain it was not a dig at you and more of a dequalifier for me. I am no captain whatsoever. What you describe is absolutley one of the ways it is done. I am against dropping a anchor actually onto a wreck any more than onto a reef for the same reasons. If observing a 5-1 scope a 90 foot wreck would take 450' of line. The tie off is more popular for this reason as well as having a line directly back. Again I am not a captain only offering how I have seen captains do it. A descent ascent line is easy enough to drop from the vessel if it is anchored up current.
