He is a really great guy, good boat and nice long bottom times (over an hour) unlike most operators who send you up with 1100psi after 40 minutes cuz they want to go home.

To be fair, that's not how "most operators" work.

We "day trip" several days every time we go down from PDC to Cozumel. We dive with Deep Blue. They have a "late" boat that goes out at 9:00AM so we don't have to be on the ferry until 8:00AM.

Thanks for the link, Tigerman - I'd missed it. Glad you got to do a little of Cancun, Coz, Cenotes and the WSs! Coz is really good diving, sorry you ran into a crowd - seldom happens, really.

Dear Don,

I do ocasionally check these boards and when I see something of value that I can add, without being commercial, I usually do. I just think that the independence and integrity of these forums are very important and that with frequent postings by people like me there might be some risk of compromising that--so I don't very often.

Of course in circumstances like Wilma I posted a lot because I seemed to be the only one with Internet connection and communications. I suspect that was much appreciated and I would of course do the same thing when my input was needed and useful.

Appreciate your sentiments, Dave - but I don't think there's much risk. Hope you'll post more...

Slingshot,

You might also want to check in with Jason (a/k/a PlayaCountryBoy) at Fantasea Dive and Water Sports www.fantaseadive.com . I'm heading down to Aventura (just South of Playa) in October and diving with Jason in both Playa and Cozumel. Here's the arrangements:
We will meet each day at 8:30. Just go to the ferry pier and walk the beach just one block to Calle 2 (2nd Street) You will see a blue and white boat. Thats me!

You'll find Jason on most of the Playa and Cozumel posts (don't know how he missed this one) and his email is jason@fantaseadive.com

Emjoy your trip and report back!

With all due respect Dave, it is easy to participate on the boards without compromising the integrity and without being commercial. I would challenge you to find any of my posts being commercial. BTW, I was invited by several moderators to participate, and it's my pleasure to do so. There are actually MANY dive operators who participate in this forum and others, but they don't all use their real names, many use aliases.

Dear Christi,

Please believe that I was just expressing my personal philosophy. I have seen much useful and interesting information from your posts and I don't think that anyone takes offense from the valuable contributions you have made. And when I see that I can provide special insight or info I will post. Perhaps during Hurricane Wilma my posts and help were appreciated. I hope so and I never tried to solicit business!

It's just that I believe that the less there is from Cozumel Operators on this or any board, the more credibility that the board will have. At least that is my perception and if it differs from yours then grant me the right to my own opinion.

You see, that opinion was formed in the early nineties when the Compuserve Scuba Board (the first and only in that time frame) became clogged with dive ops tooting their own horns, sometimes hiring hit men or shrills, and essentially destroyed the credibility of that forum. Honest postings were then lost in the noise! I don't want that to happen to the free flow of pretty good info that we now enjoy!

As for operators posing as unbiased contributors, I don't spend a lot of time here and have not recognized any of those, but if so they ought to be exposed. Perhaps you ought to inform the moderators of those you suspect. If I can help just let me know.

Dave and Christi,

I just wanted to point out that I for one appreciate the contributions that you both make to this board. I think that you both have provided us very valuable input, and I have never felt that you were overly biased in your opinions. I think most of us really appreciate having someone that is consistently able to post from Cozumel, especially when discussions are related to the weather conditions on the island.

I think that your opinions actually hold more validity on this board because we all know who you are, and therefore appreciate your knowledge. It bothers me that some may feel the need to post on the board under an alias, instead of being honest about their identity like each of you.

Again thank you for your contributions to this board. I hope you will both continue to contribute where you see fit.

I respect your opinion Dave and meant no offense towards you. My apologies if it came across that way. I also respect the fact that you post under your own name rather than an alias and when you do post, it's helpful and informative. I did not mean to insinuate anything else.

Christi and Dave -

One thing that both you guys bring to the board that most of the rest of us can't is the "boots on the ground" viewpoint from Cozumel.
