I know Jeremy really tries hard to give top notch customer service, and he does an excellent job of it...but this just doesn't even make sense unless he's planning to do the dives over there too. He would be better off from a cost effective and time effective standpoint to just pay your friends ferry ticket.

Not only that, crossing the channel is very weather/sea condition dependent unless you're in a large boat, and even then is a problem if the weather is REALLY bad. So what is he goingto do if there is a really strong east or west wind that day?

I was VERY surprised when my friend told me about the arrangement. I heard it from him, not Jeremy... My friend is not diving every day, I have no idea how many other divers Jeremy has those days and/or how early the pick up would be. Knowing Jeremy, if he is picking him up in PDC then I'm sure there are contingencies in place. I also don't know if it's a return trip or just pick up.

I'm not gonna be there and had no involvement in the plans. I'm just telling what I was told...

He's going first week of Sept, so I'll know the scoop when I get back from Curacao on the 9th. ;)

I can only say what we did when I was in Cancun last week and I wanted a day in Cozumel..
I booked everything through MAD and was taken to the ferry by car, took the ferry over, taxi from the dock to the boat, which they had booked for us and went out. I just love having everything handled so all I need to do is bring myself and my gear outside of the hotel in the morning :p

Jeremy just called and I jokingly ask him when he had expanded his operation to PDC. I then had to explain about the posts that were here on the board. He said there was a major miscommunicaion. He does not pick up in PDC but will happily pick up all divers that take the ferry across at the downtown pier. I hope Scubawife's friend reads this and plans accordingly. Knowing Jeremy, he is now trying to figure out who this diver is so he can make personal contact.

Thanks for all the info, looks like the 6am ferry for me. Hope I don't fall asleep and make the roundtrip unintentionally! Any tips on when to show up for the ferry? Any info on cab fare to PDC from Mayakoba?

Hi Jim -

As I said, I was VERY surprised when my buddy told me this... I'll clarify with the diver, and let Jeremy know too. ;) Again, just passing on what I was told.

(by dive buddy who is making the trip is a good friend, but as far as I know, not on scubaboard.)

Aldora has a relatively new policy that allows mainland divers to take the 9 am ferry and depart for diving shortly after 10 am, even if it is only one diver. Because of our infrastructure and willingness, normally we can get 4 or more divers for a later departure and the risk is on us to fill the boat.

I wondered when your trip was. Were you there for H.Dean? Maybe you should post a report thread. My trip was hardly worth one...

I was still asleep after the Coz to PDC ferry docked and everyone else got off. They woke me up and told me to leave. :shakehead:

That's great Dave! Maybe you'd like to put Aldora's site link, contact email & phone number in your Sig and even watch for more of these threads on this sub forum and the main Mexico forum? :crafty:

Nah, I left from Cancun sunday afternoon, just as the original plan was. I got to walk past everyone that was standing at the line for the Delta service desk (who was the only one that wasnt sold out) and check in with American Airways and get out in time to not meet Dean in person :p
As far as a report.. I have made one already ;)

Dear Don,

I do ocasionally check these boards and when I see something of value that I can add, without being commercial, I usually do. I just think that the independence and integrity of these forums are very important and that with frequent postings by people like me there might be some risk of compromising that--so I don't very often.

Of course in circumstances like Wilma I posted a lot because I seemed to be the only one with Internet connection and communications. I suspect that was much appreciated and I would of course do the same thing when my input was needed and useful.

I just got back from the Mayan Riviera and I spent a great day with Jeremy Anschel at Living Underwater. It meant that I took a cab from my hotel at 5 a.m. to Playa then the 6 a.m. ferry to Cozumel and anothe cab to Caleta Harbour where Jeremy's boat is. I must admit that I was wondering if it would be worth all the effort but now that I am back, I can say with conviction that it was. He is a really great guy, good boat and nice long bottom times (over an hour) unlike most operators who send you up with 1100psi after 40 minutes cuz they want to go home.
Check out his website...just google "Living Underwater"...good luck...I wish I was down there again myself!!
