Diver Initials on Tanks

I'm hardly GUE/DIR/UTD, but I found the initials on my friends tanks to be kind of cool. Given the uniformity of these divers' kits, it makes sense to have them clearly identified.

My only question is whether these labels contribute in any way to external corrosion and rust on the outside of steel tanks?

Same around here in VA, some use the Y, some use private country club type pools, but you as a single person cannot use the pool for scuba.

Yeah, they are useful for identification, but they are a tool and getting carried away seems just....well, just silly.

And, if you keep them cheap enough removal and replacement every once in awhile to check underneath is feasible.

Here is something that I over think a bit. How does one get into a pool with their scuba equipment without an act of congress? I have called the Y, no go. I have to wait until a LDS has a class and tag along with them once a month and only during their times for the class. How have other been so lucky to find a pool to practice?????

Call around to different shops and pools. Surely you can find a cheaper place.

My question was answered. There is not a standard. Good to know.

The rest is just fun and games.

Actually, I can understand the OP's POV. There are standards for marking tanks for contents and MOD, and he was wondering if there were any other standards.

the font I use is IMPACT, for those keeping score at home.
