Would it really be that hard to say "unless you see M8004 or Catalina" on it?

This isn't a case of a "problematic" customer. Although some shops I know what their customers as green as a newb and as dumb as a box of rocks. They don't like to be challenged on anything... Perhaps you are one of those shops.

You're welcome to come and see. I think you over estimate the quality of employees. I've had literally 1000+ employees in multiple fields of work. I thought they were all dumb as a box of rocks. And I tend to be fire happy. If you're a moron, you don't get to stay employed. I feel there's always another person around the corner that hopefully is less dumb as a box of rocks. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes not.

At any rate, It's not my shop. I don't own it, the owner does. He's set the policy and he hires the help. I can tell you right now we have one employee who is friggin awesome and can do anything we ask. The other employee not so much.

The good news is, we rarely see an old aluminum tank. Like I said earlier, we don't like disappointing our customers, we certainly don't like telling them their gear is junk. I'd feel bad sending them to our competitors for fills if we had any (we don't). At any rate, this has been our policy since the bad alloy was discovered. I'm certain it won't be changed. For those of you reading, I'll save you the trip. Don't come to our shop to fill your pre-90 aluminum tanks. I'm sorry.

For us, we've found that people will not look at a chart. It's easier/safer for us to just say, "look at this one number, if it's 1990 or older and aluminum, dont' fill it."

Don't come to our shop to fill your pre-90 aluminum tanks

So which is it?

Your first statement says that you fill cylinder that were made in 1991 and after.

Your second statement says that you will fill cylinders that were made in 1990 and after.

Seems like even you are confused?

Really? That's your retort?

Um, I mispoke. LOL,
Let me rephrase: 90 and before. Happy?

Would it really be that hard to say "unless you see M8004 or Catalina" on it?

Well?

I recognize that many of those tanks are very obsecure and it's hard to memorize all that. But Catalina's are very common and were never made of that bad alloy

Hahahahaha....
When you get your own shop, you can run it how you want. :D
I type 98 words per minute, sometimes I make mistakes. Deal with the fact that I'm not perfect, but only if you are perfect.
