Ok it appears I got mixed up - the liability program appears to be for dive shops and professionals and is separate from dive accident insurance for recreational divers.

Right. The question I have pondered is whether DiveAssure's Liveaboard Rider is worth it. Dives being thwarted by one unforeseen circumstance or another over the years has cost me plenty of money and time. I figure I can't insure against every possible misfortune. Besides, no amount of money can adequately compensate me for the lost enjoyment of not getting to see some spectacular reef in Indonesia.

I don't think that I have ever had a dive thwarted on a liveaboard, other than due to coming down with a sinus cold in Turks and Caicos and a nasty flu in Red Sea.

Had I paid for dive protection insurance on every lob that I've been on over the years, would I be ahead or behind?

Hi
I don't know about DiveAssure but to give you a perspective, I am assured with DAN Europe and I don't live in Europe.
Indeed, DAN Europe covers any citizen of an European country, where ever they are resident in the world or any national residing in Europe.
For DAN Europe, you have to be ‘domicile’ in Europe. But they will take your money as they’re not registered with any financial regulator, that’s why there based in Malta.

As I understand it, the business plan of insurance companies is to collect premiums and deliver dividends and that paying claims is to be avoided. If you are an American, wait until you need to make an insurance claim for medical treatment!

It is not that they told me when I asked about that.
The coverage is also open to European passport holders with domiciliation outside The Dan Europe region.
Repatriation, if needed, if done to where you reside.

It’s time for me to renew my dive insurance - I’ve always enrolled with DAN by default but multiple recent reports about poor support in Asia had me concerned. And so I just paid for an annual plan for DiveAssure priced at $149. Minutes after enrolling I browsed around the site to find this - Liability Program Availability - List of Countries and my country is not listed! What the heck? Does that mean I am not eligible to be covered? Why did they allow me to enroll and and accept when my address is from a country not in the Liability Program? I am confused now. Should I write to them and ask for a refund?
They don’t make money paying claims

Have you read the policy document.
Yes and have emails about my asking between "nationality", "residency" and "domiciliation".
What do you read? Real question. I am not here to defend them as I may be on the wrong side of the bargain.

I read their on-line policy documentation, all 50 papes of it.

Yes. Can you pinpoint the chapter contradicting that I thought was fine? As I say, I am not into a fight with you. I just want to make sure that I am paying for a real thing.

EDIT: Here is their answer to my query:
Thanks for your explanation, I get it. The document you are referring to is meant to summarize the most important aspects of the cover but it does not replace the insurance policy. This document is more restricted in this sense, but the policy wording, which is the real "contract" prevails.
The policy wording allows divers who are at least citizens of a DAN Europe territory to take out an insurance. Whenever a product cannot be bought by a resident of certain countries, we make it unavailable on our website. So I can confirm you can be insured through a Sport plan.

I got that also:
