Hello all,

I'm a dive professional working as an instructor and looking for some advice for travel insurance/health insurance (I have DAN pro insurance for diving related things) but was looking for something to cover me health wise.

I used to have DR WALTER and they've been good, but I cannot extend with them anymore. They were good, and always answered questions promptly. But always took ages to solve claims. So I will probably take out a new insurance with them but I was just checking before I do.

Facts:
- permanent resident of the UK
- European and UK passport
- trip has already begun
- 27 years old (male)
- PADI pro
- my trip has already begun

Thanks in advance,

Leon

You'll probably do better asking this in r/digitalnomads; your question is less dive-y and more itinerant worker-y.

Don't have enough contribution to post there, but I posted in solo travel so I'll see what's happening there. I'm also wondering how to get access to the pros part of this site, I think it's a valid question there

I did what you did around the same age as you are but 25 years ago. My recommendation is to get a job from decent dive centre/lob that will get a proper work permit for you and in most of the countries, that entails the health insurance as well.
If you are not able to achieve that, I would consider not getting health insurance but putting that money aside, in case you get sick; most of the diving is done in developing countries and as dive instructor from the west, you will out earn the locals and health services are correspondingly going to be more affordable for you. At that age, I was literally never sick, so you have to weigh your personal risk based on your overall health.
