the s555 is a fine reg. it is an s600 without the the breathing resistence knob. it is balanced and can have the s600 knob added later. a mk11 is good in warm water. i have one as an octo on a mk17 an s600 primary breaths as good as the s600.

How easy have u found the g250 to service ? And how complicated will a mk25 be to service

An infant could service the G250 in his sleep. The MK25 will have to wait until kindergarden; it's not a lot more complicated, but it requires a bit of physical strength that an infant does not have. :D

Is a balanced diaphram or balanced piston easier to service .... Ha ha very nice analogy , this hoever coming from some one who from wat iv seen in the forums knows a lot about how regs work

Not guilty! I lifted that one straight out of Oxy's book, p.204, with minimal customization :D.

Diaphragm I don't know; looks like they've got a few more parts to deal with. I've got a couple of AL's that sit at the bottom of my closet. I guess I'll have to do them one day, but no rush, they don't get a lot of use and they last a long time.

A gauge to check the Intermediate Pressure, delivered by the 1st stage to the 2nd, one of the most important thing. Check couv's item #9.
k o ordered a g250v and mk25 ... 4 days and its here :) , this IP thing is it a biggy , i read about it and the creeping etc , but what are the chances of it happening and what will it cause .. i wont be able to check it till end of month cause all my money is gone ha ha ha

I've read a couple of cases where the regs are not well adjusted out of the box; I guess the odds are 3-4%. if the IP is too high AND IF the 2nd and the 1st are not tested together as they should, then it might free flow.

Until you're back to prosperity, do a quick & dirty test: slap the reg on a tank, listen for a hissing sound (free flow), draw a few breaths, listen again, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, listen again. If you don't hear anything, it's probably safe. Try it out in a pool or do a little shore dive.

got my g250v and mk25 today :) very happy , thanks all

It's fairly unlikely on a new reg that you will have IP problems. Most of the time an IP problem will show up as a slight freeflow, most divers don't even notice they have one. I will do easy dives with some creep.....in the reg that is :) but not deep dives because there is obviously something not right in the reg. Complete failure is not likely but still why take the chance. It will show up as a slow stream of bubbles coming out of 1 or both second stages.....but then again a defective or miss adjusted second stage can do the same thing. If you purge the second stage and it takes some time for it to start freeflowing again, you have a IP creep, if it comes back very quickly you most likely have a second stage issue. In any case, don't jump to conclusions, wait until you can measure it with a guage. You can make an IP gauge from a air gauge (like used on air compressors) 175 to 200 psi scale, a fitting to convert the gauge from a threaded fitting to a barb, a hose clamp and an old LP hose. Cut the female end off the hose, stick the barb in and clamp it down with the clamp, DIY IP gauge for a few dollars if you have an old LP hose.

so i used my reg for the 1st time today :) it was beautiful , went down to 35m and put the resistance to min and it breathed super easy and smooth , , did some upside down diving too looking at stuff , and i couldn't notice a difference , the all steel really makes a difference , all in all im exceptionally happy , so thanks all :)
