I admit, I have a problem, when it comes to buying higher end regulators off offerup/facebook etc. I need to start parting with some. Anyway, this regulator caught my eye on FB because it said Titanium and was clearly broken, plastic disintegrated on the purge cover. Also came with a Suunto Vyper that appears to be working after battery change, console is analog pressure, compass and Vyper Puck. I just so happen to have a B2 cover from a color swap so that didn't bother me too much. I made a $50 offer and waited 2 months, the seller reached out and took my offer. Turns out it was his ex wife's regulator and he wanted it gone. I will have it serviced and believe this is a chrome plated brass first stage and titanium 2nd stage, which in my thinking is basically equivalent to a B2? The first stage does appear different than my other B2 and ST1 regs. There is also no swivel hose, so I know it's old. Can I upgrade this first stage? Primary location is Southern California, but 3-4 times a year to Cozumel. Any idea on the age of this kind of setup?
Any ideas on proper place in my lineup of regs which are currently the following:
Atomic ST1
Atomic B2
Scuba Pro Titanium Mk25t/600t, older one first and 2nd stage titanium, (2005-08) I believe (This reg sits in Cozumel with my setup there at Scuba repair)
Scuba Pro Mk25/S600
Scuba Pro Mk 17/g200

Just my guess but I would say it’s a B1 (prior to Jet Seat) and the titanium covers are known for cracking like that. Some of the older seconds won’t take the newer covers without a few other parts.

At your price even with the updating costs you did extremely well.

You bought a very early B1, I call tell that because the trim ring has rectangular holes rather than round holes. As @lexvil noted it has the non jet seat piston. We can tell that because of the style of trim cap on top. And also said the purge covers of that era are known disintegrate.

Basically you are looking at $200 in parts (new piston and service kits) and labor. At that point for all intents and purposes it's a B2 first and second stage. The current generation of second stages has slight improvement.

I will be bringing it to Cozumel for a rebuild and hopefully upgrade at Scuba Repair, next time I am down there. Thanks for all the information.
