Not an accident nor an incident, but I thought it was interesting.

Man in fake diving death case held in Las Vegas
The Associated Press
11:03 a.m. April 2, 2009

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. A man who police say faked his own death in a Southern California diving accident has been arrested in Las Vegas after allegedly cheating while gambling.

Laguna Beach police said Wednesday that John Sung Park was arrested earlier this week when Nevada Gaming Board officers spotted him cheating at the MGM Grand Casino.

The 29-year-old from Buena Park had been missing since September, when he disappeared while diving off Laguna Beach.

Police suspected he faked his death to avoid sentencing on burglary, theft, forgery and drug charges in Orange County and a drug warrant in Los Angeles County.

Park could be extradited to Orange County within weeks.

Authorities say he now could face additional charges of faking an emergency and gambling fraud.
