I took a couple of recently OW certified buddies diving Friday and Sunday at the old Meadowdale Marina... The marina has been closed for years, but provides very interesting dive structure. We saw a Cabezon (5-6lbs), loads of large Perch, schools of shiny needlefish (not sure what they're really called) and enough crab to provide dinner.

Viz was best on Friday, over 10', somewhat worse on Sunday.

Has anyone dove the coves, the "junk yard", or Three Tree in the last couple days?

Curious as to what vis has been this week in the West Seattle area.

Did Cove 2 on Wednesday evening ... vis down to 20 fsw was about 5 feet, and gradually opened up to about 15 feet at 70 fsw. Didn't go deeper than that as my dive buddy is still getting used to diving a rebreather and we didn't want to push it.

I'd say the viz at Cove 2 tonight was 15-20 feet or so, maybe a bit more below 50 feet, good enough that you could see the layout of the Honey Bear.

Got a spur of the moment dive in with thelawgoddess, and it was a very pleasant, relaxing dive.

Visibility tonight at Redondo was awesome -- probably at least 30 feet. We could see the bottom at 25 feet from the surface with our lights. A great dive, full of sailfin sculpins, a couple of octopus including a cooperative one who on a mission going somewhere, and let us watch him for a long time, a bunch of gunnels, gobies, snake pricklebacks, and something eel-like that none of us could ID. And Kirk found a grunt sculpin about the size of an acorn! Really fun dive.

We were there was well..... a great dive.... Here is a little dive report and photo show.

Did a little dip at Redondo last night…. Vis was about 30’ and it was a great dive. Dove with Colleen and Kirsten and man were the critters out. Sailfin sculpins everywhere. We headed to the carousel and Colleen found a tiny octo. The usual cast of characters was there, but we saw at least 3 sailfin’s of various size at the first stop. Made our way up to the stove pipe and half way there found these 2 sailfin’s swimming around each other. Kirk, Leigh, and Lynn were there and pointed out a small pipe with a grunt sculpin in one end, and an octo in the other. Got a pretty good shot of that one. The neat thing is that there was a very tiny grunt sculpin swimming around that the larger one. Hit the pipe and saw star fish, buffalo sculpins, and another… you guessed it …. Sailfin sculpin, but this one was at least 12 inches long…. Can we say fishzilla……? Ended the dive with a beautiful clear sky with the stars above. Life doesn’t get much better thin this.

Here is a little photo show… Please enjoy.

WONDERFUL picture of the grunt sculpin in the pipe . . . And thank you for putting the doubles in the back of the car for me!

Dove Mukilteo Oil Dock yesterday afternoon and again this morning. Last night on the low and this morning on the high. Great dives with viz ranging to 33' horizontally below 40'. Many schools of fish, a few salmon and hundreds of sole. It was like diving in an aquarium. At 80' I could look up and see the sun and the surface. Just amazing and not another car in the lot.

Sea ya!
