I'm really having a hard time with the over-moderation of posts and threads on this board. If you want to live in a sanitized society, find one where the leader acts like a dictator making secret rulings allowing secret invasions of privacy by governmental entities without benefit of constiutional protections or warrants and...and...and...oh...errrr...ah....well, ok, you know what I mean! I'd like to know why my thread was closed? I don't see anything in there that violates TOS...anyone?

Who is name-calling? Look its easy to say something violates a TOS or this or that. However, I am an attorney, so you'll need to provide some other empirical evidence (like a citation to the TOS) other than your naked assertion that would allow me to agree with you whether it violates or does not so violate. If you can't do that, you should stand silently and observe...that's my humble opinion...so, put up or...you know the rest...if you have a citiation, provide it, and I'll be the first to agree with you...

Al Mialkovsky:
Resorting to name calling? So this TOS you speak of, have you not read it or are you having difficulty understanding it? :D

Pilot Fish ever since your thread got erased, for just cause I might add, you've done nothing here but complain about moderation.

Maybe a time out is in order? Give yourself a break, you'll feel better for it.

I think I'd feel better, and some other posters too, if you stopped trying to incite people and hyjack threads to fit your fragile moods.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary in your request for a subforum. Just one irrelevant reply by another member.

Maybe the other posts have been filtered out but the mod forgot to unlock it?

However, you're probably not gaining any goodwill by the statement quoted above.

...and which TOS would it be a violation of, Bullwinkle II?
Wouldn't that be you Mr. Attorney????

Agree with that?

gratefuljames: It was refreshing to see your thread on Clean & Sober. Having been on numerous "Australian Rules" diving trips-no offense Aussie friends-it was a welcome change to see some input from folks who have gained control of their life and love diving. I am still working on the gaining control part, but I do love diving and the great feeling we all get when free in the water. I have no idea why Pete would close down such a thread. Here we can, normally, have spirited debates and gain a lot of information. I hope you have a response from Pete, please let us know.

Well you're half right.

I ran a similar (although non-SCUBA) service for about 10 years in the 80s. There are always a few people who want to stir things up and/or make the other users grumpy, and tossing them out has pretty much no down-side.

It doesn't mean that the other users will get up and leave, and in fact, usually means that more of the users you want to have actually stay.

It's along the same reason that parents with little kids sign up for AOL instead of normal unfiltered internet access. They like having a clean place to play.

Let's also keep in mind that the "owner" is dependent on his/her USERS to actually have a site that anyone cares about. So, what you are saying is that if you don't like censorship and draconian measures, you should leave, and go to another board, and leave this board without participants? Is that what you're suggesting?

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

From SB TOS
While we encourage discussion about a wide range of subjects, there are certain areas which elicit more animosity and subsequently far more flames. Consequently we ask that discussions involving politics and nationalities or anything of a sexual nature be reserved for other message boards that are better venues for these topics.

Your post is a highly charged and political in nature, per the TOS I will not engage you in debate on your opinion, nor should you be posting this type of political opinion.
I am not a moderator here on SB and this is just my personal take on your post.

political

po·lit·i·cal [ pə líttik'l ]

adjective

Definitions:

1. concerned with party politics: relating to politics, especially party politics

2. concerned with government: relating to civil administration or government

3. resulting from beliefs unacceptable to government: arising from somebody's opposition to a government or support for policies and principles regarded by the authorities as unacceptable, or suffering as a result of expressing such opposition or support
a political trial
a political detainee

4. interested in politics: particularly interested or active in politics
I'm not usually a very political person.

5. concerned with power: relating to the balance of power in relationships, especially in a group or organization
a political workplace

6. pragmatic: carried out for reasons that best serve a desired outcome rather than for other reasons such as being morally justifiable
denies that this was a political decision

So there, what do you think of that rabbit Rocky? :multi:

Its my opinion about our President, Richard Nixon, oops, I mean, W. Nixon, or George Nixon...Richard Bush...whomever he is...lolololol....I'm glad someone got the Bullwinkle joke rather than thinking it was name-calling though...very pragmatic...hahaaa...come on, the Board is RIPE with political discussion, and "sexual?" have you read some of the Singles Forum posts? Come on now folks...let's not go off our rockers here...a simple "we don't think C&S forum is a good idea because (maybe not enough clean and sober divers?)." It could be anything, but don't stifle presentation or discussion of ideas just because you don't agree with them...I like Patrick Henry, and private board or no private board...no one is yelling FIRE in a crowded theater by asking whether some people would like to see a clean and sober forum...ne'st ce pas?

If you allow Christian divers and Clean and Sober divers forums, eventually I'm going to submit a request for Anarchist Divers, Atheist Divers, Agnostic Divers, Socialist Divers, Liberal Divers, Leftist Divers, GLBT Divers, Drug-Friendly Divers, Smoking Divers, Divers who hate Dubyuh, BDSM Divers, Divers Against the Iraq War, and anything else I can think of.

PSD divers, Military Divers, Female Divers, Single Divers and DIR Divers all segregate actual threads which have come up repeatedly into their own groupings. They were created because they communities were already there and active in posting about their unique issues. They were not created to try to engineer those communities into actively posting about their issues.

I have not logged in for some time now, but I am glad to see I have not missed anything. Yep, same forum as always. :D
