Suggestion Clean and Sober Thread Closed For...??????

I'm really having a hard time with the over-moderation of posts and threads on this board. If you want to live in a sanitized society, find one where the leader acts like a dictator making secret rulings allowing secret invasions of privacy by governmental entities without benefit of constiutional protections or warrants and...and...and...oh...errrr...ah....well, ok, you know what I mean! I'd like to know why my thread was closed? I don't see anything in there that violates TOS...anyone?

We have a TOS that we agree to adhere to when we join. I suggest reading it.

I'd like to remind EVERYONE that the ScubaBoard.com website is a PRIVATELY OWNED site and we are all permitted to participate on this board by the INVITATION of the owner.

Being a privately held site gives the owner sole intellectual rights to determine what he finds acceptable and unacceptable to be posted to the board. With that goes the right to "uninvite" any member or members.

It's about private ownership.

Keep in mind, folks, this is a private site, and even though the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America does not apply here in its full force, the owner dilligently tries to provide a forum where topics about scuba diving can be discussed in an intelligent, mature and civil manner.

Let's also keep in mind that the "owner" is dependent on his/her USERS to actually have a site that anyone cares about. So, what you are saying is that if you don't like censorship and draconian measures, you should leave, and go to another board, and leave this board without participants? Is that what you're suggesting?

Mabye it would have been a Christians Only club? But where would that leave Catholics, and Presbeterians, Episcopals, Congregationalists, 7th Day Adventists, etc

Or, maybe it would have been mean-spirited and narrow minded in regards to dirty, drunken scoundrels?

Too many forums makes the board to unweildy to manage properly.

In fact, there was a paring down of forums not too long ago.

But, of course it's ok to have a "single divers" (dating) forum and a "military divers" (because of course we ALL are "patriots" now) forum...the problem is if you let there be one, you should let there be all, or let none...you can't do it half-way or make your own subjective determinations, unless of course you're a bigot, then you can do it without caring....

No, I haven't...would love to get one though; I didn't know that making a suggestion about a forum violates the TOS or anything else...it's a reasonable request...the answer "no" to the request is also reasonable (but "no" with an explanation would be so much better)...that's all....

Resorting to name calling? So this TOS you speak of, have you not read it or are you having difficulty understanding it?

Pilot Fish ever since your thread got erased, for just cause I might add, you've done nothing here but complain about moderation.

Maybe a time out is in order? Give yourself a break, you'll feel better for it.
