I'd really like to get into CCR but I've got a history of a heart attack six years ago. I have four stents. No comorbidities or other conditions. Heart attack was due to elevated Lipoprotein (a) and not due to lifestyle. In fact, i was training for an Ironman when I had it. I get a nuclear stress test every year for my FAA pilot medical. I'm on Zetia and Repatha, and all my numbers are good. I'm just cursed with bad genes.

With this medical history, what else should I consider regarding CCR? Is this something I can reasonably consider or does my medical history prevent it? Thanks in advance.

Medical history doesn't expressly prevent it, but it would need to be signed off by your doctor. Preferably one that has some knowledge of decompression theory and its effect on the body.

I agree what the others have said and add one thing, can you lift ~50 lbs (25 Kg) on your back. My unit is a bit heaver then my steel 100, but less then doubles.

If there ever was a question for Doug Ebersole, this is it!

If you don't know him, he's an interventional cardiologist and a rebreather instructor. See if you can reach out... Anyone else is likely guessing. He may guess to, but his guess would be better.

I am a Surgical Oncologist with Hyperbaric training.
AFAIK, unless you have cardiologic limitations with moderate exercises, keep on good Ejection Fraction, no heart insuficiency you wold be ok.
A cardiological test, with eco ir stress test, or evaluation with an Sport medicine specialist would be the best advise.
Enjoy CCR

Thank you, everyone for your responses. I appreciate you all and I will certainly follow up with Dr. Ebersole.

You mean circa 50kg/110# for the backmounted rebreather PLUS one or two stages at 15kg/33# each?

Mine's 46kg/100# fully loaded ready for diving. Plus stages - which is is circa 20kg/44# for Ali80s (with regs) or 15kg for Ali7s with stages.

Plus scooter
