Quite soon I will have a chance to do CCR course. I know almost nothing about rebreathers but in a way I'm a bit afraid of them.

So what do you think - should I or should I not take the course?

It will be BI CCR - as this is the only one that has CE certificate (accepted in Eropean Union) and EU law says instructors have to use CE equipment.
What I understand most of the accidents happening lately were on Inspiration.

I need your advice.

YES Take the course. Take the course. Take the course. YES

The knowledge gained will allow you to make an educated decision on whether diving a CCR is for you.

There is nothing unusual about being a bit afraid of something you don't understand so do the course and then you will know if your fear is justified or not.

I don't dive a CCR and I am not sure I am a carefull enough person to use one but I would always take the opertunity to learn how they work etc.

Be careful, once you go to the DarkSide there is no turning back.

Have fun and don't be scared of Rebreathers, just be respectful and you may well fall in love with Silent Diving.

Cheers

Depending on how skilled the instructor is...I would certainly give it a go. If anything, the Inspiration is a decent CCR. Your experiences on that rig could act as a scaffold for using other CCR's.

I would also welcome all advice on things I should consider before the course or during one. All dos and don'ts. anything that might be useful

Thanks

Do - Rob a bank
Don't - Get caught :D

The Inspiration CCR's with the vision electronics will cost about $10K. I tried an instructors CCR in a pool and would definitely purchase one if I could justify the $$$.

I have a hard time getting past my home pc is obsolete after 6 months to 1 year. The cost of the electronics on the inspiration is several thousand dollars and will be obsolete after approximately 1 year!

Take the class have fun! The Do’s and Don’t’s will have to come from other members who use CCR’s

Hi Mania,

I just want to be sure I understand, you would be taking course for the Inspiration, right? CCR courses, at least here in the US, are rebreather specific, so a course on the Inspiration would have general information useful for all rebreathers, but would not certify you to dive, say, a Megladon or KISS.

yes and no

Yes it would on BI but there probably will be another CCR I can use but can't have a course becasue it doesn't have CE certificate.

But let's keep it simple and concentrate on BI although I do hope to get more than general knowledge on rebreathers.

This cannot be right. While I am aware of the CE certificate, I thought that more units were CE approved. Certainly, I am aware of UK divers diving Megs and Ourborous units. We've got 3 Meg students at our shop now from the UK. Or is Poland more restrictive?
