So, didja put it on yet?!?! I put my BP/W together during the landfall of Hurricane Charley and had it rigged out and tested by the time the eye had passed by... I was diving with it before we even had power restored.... when are ya diving.. inquiring Colins want-ta know!!! :D

BTW, I switched to a steel tank and nolonger wear any weight in tropical temps.. well, that for me is 70ish and up...

Get a single tank adapter from hammerheadscuba.com Its a great piece of equipment!

Mine is supposed to come with a single adapter. I just ordered it today. Supposed to be here Saturday or Monday. I'll be taking it diving March 4th if all is as seems with it and I don't have to buy/order anything for it.

I really know NOTHING about BP/W's. I was told on my other tread (How does this look for a setup) that it was a pretty good deal for $200. I took the plunge and ordered it. What else do I need to get? Is this single threading? What kind of weights will I need with it? Tank band? I see that it says it comes with a single tank adapter. I will be wearing singles. What else do I need to do? Looks like I got in over my head :yourkiddi , but I got me a BP/W anyway. Glad this is a good place to learn, because I have a lot to do on this one.:help_2:

Weight Integration - 30 lb capacity (20 lbs Diver releasable - 10 lbs non-diver releasable trim weights for improved weight distribution and balance)
Contoured shoulder straps
Stainless Steel back-plate
Heavy Duty Stainless Steel single tank adapter counter-plate
Crotch Strap
Adjustable waistband, assures stability and comfort
8 Stainless Steel D-Rings
Front expandable pocket
Sternum strap
1000 Denier Ballistic material
SIZES/LIFT: Small/75 (THIS BC RUNS EXTREMLY LARGE - FITS MORE A LIKE A MEDIUM)

That is a steal, a massive steal.
Considering that I paid $200 for my el cheapo Jacket BC (Cressi-sub Aquapro 5) and the quality of this rig, I have a leisurepro catalog here and am looking over it as we speak..
For what it's worth this seems to be very well constructed and I don't see how you could go wrong with it, as others have stated that is a huge amount of lift, however i'm sure with practice it'll feel like a smaller wing.

Anyway with a price point like this, run don't walk to the store :14:!!
Shaking his head at the price... WoW!!

Anything is good for $200. 75# lift is alot though... alot of people only use around 55# for doubles, so you may be a bit big in a single. Is the wing removable from this unit? It should be, and so should the harness. There may come a point where you want to thread in a hogarthian harness and put on a single tank wing. Also, where are the 8 d-rings?

I'm not trying to be a downer. It looks like a good setup. These are questions you want to be asking though as you start using it in the water.

Good luck and have fun!

One of my problems is that no one here dives BP's. In fact, I've never even seen one. Scubaboarder's will have to be my BP/W class.

ABQdiver, myself, and others in our group dive BP&Ws all the time at Blue Hole, atleast the third sunday of each month. You should come dive with us sometime. ABQdiver helped me adjust mine and i'm sure we could help you if you have any issues.
Take care,
Jason

EDIT - And 200 bucks is a great deal. Don't worry about the 75# wing for now, I have a 40# one that will probably fit that rig, so you could try some other options, and just change or replace any parts you don't like. That is one great thing about the BP&W system!

Scubajoh44,

I am in Texas as well. If we are near each other I would be willing to meet you for a dive and help you trim out your new bp/w. It's hard to tell from the pic, but there should be a couple of sets of mounting holes in the bp to allow movement of the wing up or down the plate. One of the main advantages of a bp/w setup is that you can effortlessly maintain perfectly horizontal trim in the water. Of course this requires a lot of trial and error to get your weighting and setup correct. There are also several ways to arrange your gear (octo, spg, computer, etc), depending on what you want.

Anyway, it looks like a good rig and with a little experimentation you will have it setup in no time. The 75 pounds of lift is definitely overkill, but you can always pickup a smaller wing later if needed.

If you want to pm me go ahead. I am in Brownwood, which is almost exactly in the center of the state, so I'm not really close to anywhere, but I might be able to help you get it setup. It's going to be hard for anyone to explain how to trim it out without showing you as well.

Cool. I didn't know ABQdiver had a BP/W. Guess I just was't paying attention. I haven't done a dive with him but have been at Blue Hole with him a couple of times. I will deffinately go and let you give me pointers. Let me know the next time you go. I'm in the process of switching out drysuits too so I may need pointers on that too.
It should be here Saturday or Monday. I'm soooo excited. Everyone telling my what a good deal I got makes me even more excited. I've never really worried too much about my trim. I'll deffinately have to work on that.

You're gonna love it! I originally used hard weights in my front pockets. You can use hard or soft weights. Whatever yo already have.

It will come complete and asembled. The only thing I added to mine was a second tank strap - personal preference, and rear d-rings. It comes with them all in front.

After you get used to it you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner.

Enjoy!
