$1300 in a paper bag sitting in a shopping cart at Home Depot. I turned that one in and they told me a contractor called them in a panic and described the bag (had some numbers on it), and the exact denominations in the bag. Then, they asked me if I was satisfied that the owner had been found? (With that much description I told them to give the money back to the owner).
I like to think what goes around comes around.
Every time I receive too much change or get an extra bill from a bank teller I return it. I've lost phones two times (state of the art at the time). Both times they were returned by strangers.
One time I was down at Gulfstream with a buddy who likes to bet on the ponies. I saw a guy in a wheel chair drop a betting slip. I picked it up and and tried to return it to him. For some reason he dissed me and refused to take it. Guess he thought it was dead.
Sure enough it turned out to be a winner. Not huge, but enough to pay for my day. Did I try to find the guy again? Hell no. Screw him and the chair he rode in on.
