The X1 saves all data and settings to permanent memory. The battery going flat does not affect this. You only need to set the date/time after a flat battery.

Liquivision suggests to keep it on the charger always, for the battery's health.

Regards

Thanks!!! :cool3:

On a user-replaceable battery unit even if the battery is made by one person and must be special ordered you can always carry spares and replace them onsite.

Ask Timeliner about his recently deformed case from his X1 battery expanding

He owns an earlier version of the x1 not the v5 of the x1.
The v5 was lunched around 2009 and since then there has been no reported failure what so ever.
How do I know? Because Liquivision has a forum for owner and since 2009 there has been no thread regarding a failure on it.

Valery, I'm not saying your wrong, I haven't heard of a v5 failure either. The assumption that everyone who owns a unit gets onto a forum, is a bit over the top though.

PS. How do you know what version the failed unit was?

From the pics he posted it has only 1 sensor (2 for the v5) and the wet contact are located on the front (side the the v5).

Sorry, Fixxer had the exploding battery, not Timeliner

I have two Shearwaters after a poor experience with two VRs. I can use VPMB, VPMB with GF or BuhlmannZHL16. Or, as I am doing now one on VPMB and one on Buhlmann. It served as a backup light in caves in Mexico and you can see the thing for 10-20 feet even in the mud hole we call Lake Travis. Buttons are easy to use even with gloves and the screen is easily read(color!) by those with fading eyesight. Did I mention it took maybe 5-10 minutes to figure out the entire interface, pretty intuitive. X1 is small, hard to read and no color indications.

Yes, the X1 is small, some like that.

It has no "colour indications", some don't care about that.

Ross's software is very easy to read.

I personally use a Predator on one wrist and a Liquivision on the other. The combination is great for redundancy which can be helpful both in the case of equipment failure and also if there is and user error - late on gas switching or other. (Do I go to purgatory for admitting and occasional mistake?). Interestingly the two computers differ in their results somewhat by up to a couple minutes of deco if the deco is in the 30 min plus range. I have adjusted the Gradient factors on both so that their average is the Gradient factor I prefer and also they both come out with very similar assessments of my decompression. The Liquivision is nice because it gives seconds which I know isn't necessary but helps to pass the time. It's small but underwater is very readable. The Predator is readable anywhere and the adjustment buttons are a little less finicky than the tap system but it's heavy and harder to put on and harder to squeeze under a tight harness. But overall while the are "different", I really like them both and would have a hard time choosing between them if I had to. I.e., can't go wrong with either if you are using just one.

Ever had pure logic and research slam head on into intuition and feelings?

Everything says the Predator is the way to go . . . . but I still haven't made a decision because TSandM likes the X1. :)
