I have had a lot of wetsuits in my 34 yrs of diving. I have always dove wet...My first suit was a "White Stag"..the only way a woman could get a womens suit was to have it custom made..Many others followed...some fit better than others..

My last suit was the Scuba Pro 7mm Everflex...My chest is larger while my height is not...so I wear a womens Large but while it works ok it is to large is some areas and when doing multible dives I get cold..

I was due for a new suit and a diver that helped develope a cold water suit for women talked me into trying the Xcel wet suit...it's made by a company in Hawaii that ONLY makes wetsuits....I was blown away by the size choses for an off the rack suit....they must have made 20 different choices!...I went down the list and matched my height to weight...then looked at the bust/waist/hip measurements...I had the shop measure me and the measurements on the list were right on target!

I ordered the suit...when it came in I tried it on and it was the most awesome fitting suit I have ever had...next came the cold ocean test in Santa Cruz CA....my first dive was a skin dive...after the dive a major portion of my body including my hands and feet were not wet! I did not get totally wet till after my second dive!....I never got cold!...

I really liked these features...the hood is attached to the inside of the suit with a zipper so it can be removed if you want, but the suit is a one piece including the hood and the hood is inside a "cold water" well that blocks the cold water from running in down your back...the wrist and ankles have strong seal that I first put over my gloves and boots that keep water out...The suit is a solid 7mm with 8mm in core areas...the legs have a thin "sock" that comes down from the knee and fits into your boots for added warmth...then the neoprene leg itself has a zipper...(I like the ease of a zipper but don't like that they don't always seem secure and come unzipped) Xcel addressed the zipper issue with a good quality zipper with a heavy duty velcro tap that covers the zipper head when its zipped closed locking it securely into place.

The inside of the suit is almost like wearing a warm fluffy bathrobe...it is a fluffy fleecey material that drys very quickly...I took it off between dives and it was almost totally dry when I put it back on...I rinsed it in fresh water and hung it up to dry over night and it was totally dry (on the inside) for the next days diving..something my old suit never did...My husband after seeing how well it performed for me just ordered one for himself...they have a men's version...the womens version is black with a light grey trim and the gray trim has those hawaiian flowers imprinted on it...:crafty:

What's the brand and where's the website? Sounds like a good product.

I don't see the exact model I ordered...it may be newer or not listed..I'll find out which on it is and post it..

I got my suit at aqua Safari's dive shop in santa cruz so I gave them a call and asked them to look at the suit and give me the name that XCel calls it as I didnt see it on their website..they said its a new suit and it may not be up on the site yet..

The womens suit is called 8.7.6.5. Thermo Barrier It is a 8mm core body/ 7mm arms &upper leg/ 6 mm attached hood & 5mm lower leg... it is fast becoming a hot item with the diving gals!

I am going to quit my job and start a custom wetsuit company specializing in women 5'6" to 6'. 110# to 140# who suffer from having to squeeze D cup or better into a off the rack wetsuit.

OH man... talk about a young goat on his first time out.. woo hoo.

Hah! Keep me posted. I reckon I can get another 75 dives or so out of my current custom job before I need to start shopping again.

As a curvy girl, I used this thread to try and help me pick my wetsuit. I thought I would share my experiences because not all girls with boobs are shaped the same and I find some of the size charts to be unreliable.

For your reference I am 5'4", 142 lbs, 36C+, 30 inch waist, 38 inch hips and 29 inch inseam. I currently have a SeaQuest 3/2mm Size 7/8. This suit fit PERFECTLY 15 lbs ago, but now is a little tighter than I like and watching me get into it could probably qualify as entertainment. To my absolute dismay, SeaQuest is no longer making wetsuits. I need a shorty for jet skiing and a fullsuit for warm water diving. Unfortunately, my two LDSs have very limited choices for women's warm water suits and I have been pretty unlucky in my online orders.

So far I have tried on the following:

Henderson 3mm Thermoprene (both fullsuit and shorty): Size 8 fit comfortably, but the waist was too big and I had a big air pocket from my bra strap to my butt.

Henderson Neoprene Shorty Front Zip 3mm: Size 8 fits well and is only a tiny bit loose in my waist. (I'm keeping this one)

Bare Velocity Progressive Stretch 3/2mm: Size 10+ fits my chest, but is way too big in the waist and a little big in the hips. Length of arms and legs was just right.

Bare Attack Shorty 2mm: Size 10 was too tight in the chest and hips.

Pinnacle Merino Seal 3mm: This is a stiff and uncomfortable suit (the shoulders and neck were horrible). Size MLS is too short in the legs and too long in the torso. The chest and waist were way too big.

I also tried Scubapro and Aquaflex and, I can't remember exactly why, but I know they didn't fit curves well.

I leave for Belize in 10 days and I am hoping the Henderson H2 is available in time. If not, the Henderson Hot Skin Lycra Size M fits perfectly and hopefully will help me squeeze into my beloved SeaQuest with a little more grace. If I can't find that perfect fit again, I may just have to drop those pesky 15 lbs.

If anyone has similar measurements, I'm open to suggestions!

I'm a D cup girl with broad shoulders making wetsuit fit pretty tough. I used to be a die hard Henderson Hyperstretch fan until I found the Pinnacle Elastaprene. IMO it is a far superior suit in quality, construction, and warmth while it is equal to the HH in stretchiness and fit.

My experience with the Henderson Hyperstretch is definitely that they are not warm suits so going with the Pinnacle Elastaprene meant I could have both warmth AND stretchiness. :D
