Trip Report Back in the high life again

Forgot to mention, Two Georges and Banana Boat were both doing a booming business when we came back into the marina both yesterday and today. I saw no masks, of course they were eating and drinking, and little distancing. Looked just like the old days

Very foolish & unfortunate. This is why this thing is going to linger for a long time. My wife & I still refuse to eat out. Heck we hardly ever get take-out even.

Day 10 of 12, 25 dives. Boy am I tired. Did 4 dives out of Boynton with Loggerhead today, Capt Jim and mate Dave in the morning, Capt Alex and mate Maricella this afternoon Beautiful day, seas around 2 feet, visibility 40-50 feet, water temp 81 degrees.

1st dive one of my favorites, 007 outside to Clubhouse inside. 2nd dive outside Black Condo to inside. North current was fairly brisk, making some of the diving challenging, particularly with the flag. Dives in the afternoon included a leisurely drift on Delray Ledges followed by a very brisk north current dive from the north of Black Condo through Briney Breezes. Capt Alex dropped me on the very south end of Delray Ledges, a beautiful spot I had not dived before. Many, many Loggerhead Turtle, many nurse sharks, a couple of Hawksbill, 4 Yellowhead Jawfish, doing their thing, gorgeous Queen Trigger, all the usual reef fish.

Another 2 dives in Boynton in the morning, only 2 more days

Underwater Explorers $70
Loggerhead $75

JDC is $100, keep in mind the bottom time is 45 min rather than an hour

Day 11 of 12. Went out with Loggerhead, Capt Jim, mate Josh, for a 2 tanker. For a change of pace, we went north and did Horseshoe for dive 1 and Football Field for dive 2. It was a beautiful day, seas around 2 feet, moderate north current, visibility around 50 feet, water temp 81 degrees.

The reef up to Horseshoe had many, many Loggerhead turtles and all the usual reef fish. Horseshoe Bowl and a gorgeous, gigantic school of grunt, massive. The bowl was a nice dive, the upper reef had very brisk current that made it difficult to hold ground. After finishing in the bowl, I was met on the backside by a husky Bull Shark, that stayed with me for a short time. First half of Football Field also had many Loggerhead, all the usual reef fish. The 2nd half of the dive was a bit sparse, but several more turtles. We must have seen 20 Loggerheads today

06/26 will begin with a 3 tanker on Wetter the Better out of West Palm Beach; followed by 5 straight days out of Boynton with Loggerhead (including a night dive on the 28th) and a Blue Heron Bridge afternoon dive on the 1st of July -- then a morning 2 tanker with Wetter the Better on 7/02 before driving down to Key Largo for 4 tank dive days on July 3-5 and a morning 2 tanker on July 6th before flying back to the PNW the afternoon of July 7. After 4 months of water temps in the 40's and visibility in the 3-15 foot range, I can't wait.

Last day, 12 of 12. Boy, did I go out with a bang, 2 of my favorite dives in Boynton Beach with Loggerhead, Capt Alex and mate Josh. First dive was 007/Grouper Hole on the outside reef to Clubhouse on the inside. Second dive was from Sharkie's Ledge on the outside to Gazebo and Briney Breezes on the inside. Capt Alex knows the reef better than nearly anyone, takes care to drop in the very best places

Day started calm and flat, wind picked up a bit but still around 2 feet. Visibility was 50-60 feet, mild to moderate north current, water temp up to 82 degrees.

A couple of Nurse Sharks, again, many Loggerheads, a couple of large Goliath Grouper at the start of the 2nd dive, all the entertaining, usual reef fish.

I'm grateful I could make it down to Florida to partially make up for 3 months of lost diving. Twenty nine dives, nearly 31 hours
