Hello everyone

Recently I got an AV1 by accident.
When I opened it for inspection, I found that some key parts of the machine needed to be replaced.

Since AV1 is a long-discontinued device, it is difficult to obtain its original parts.

This part (11 3993600000 0513-23 SEAL FA FAJ1 10X 25X7) It looks like an oil seal. If the original parts cannot be purchased,
can other brands and models be used as substitutes?
Has anyone used other brands as substitutes? How is the effect?
Thanks for any information and help.
I posted a thread in the DPV section a few days ago, but no one responded. I hope I can get help in this section.

Since English is not my native language, this is translated by Google. Please forgive me if there are any mistakes.

Greetings from afar

Yes. Simply go to oil seals shop and buy 25x10x7 oil seal. It's common seal, widely used in boat motors and various automotive parts.
My experience is not related to Apollo, but i do such replacements multiple times (air compressors, water pumps, auto steering gear seals and so on).

Great sharing!
I bought an oil seal of the same size, but it looks different. The original AV1 oil seal is completely covered with rubber, while the NOK oil seal of the same size is a double-lip version (the description says that the auxiliary lip is for dust prevention) and some parts are not covered with rubber. The description says that its spring is made of spring steel, not stainless steel, and it seems that it cannot be used in seawater for a long time.

Apollo has dealers/distributors worldwide. maybe you should check the official webpage to find whoever fits you better.

I had to buy some spares for my AV-1s (own two of them) and the Spanish dealer was able to supply.

That's not an issue. If sizes are same - it works.

As i can see from drawings you posted, at least one seal spring sits inside, not in contact with water, if i understood parts 9 and 11. So, you can
1. seek seal with stainless steel spring
2. reinstall stainless steel spring from used seal
3. assume you use corrosive steel spring and inspect seals more often

Outer prop shaft seal

That particular factory seal is rubber only, No metal case, No spring

It is installed recessed area facing out

Clean up any burrs, of your prop shaft, and polish with wet and dry

Just remove the spring from that seal maybe do not I've done both

The part No. 11 (3993600000 0513-23 SEAL FA FAJ1 10X 25X7) I removed has only one spring, which is located on the outside and will be exposed to seawater. This position is not easy to clean on a daily basis.
I have no experience with AV1 before.
Can I put the DPV into a container filled with fresh water and turn on the propeller? Maybe the seawater and fresh water inside can be exchanged and flushed by rotating?
1The oil seal with stainless steel has not been found yet. If there is a suitable oil seal, I hope you can recommend it.
2This is a good idea! But when I disassembled another AV1, I found that the spring of part No. 11 was broken and the bearing was corroded! :(
3If you really can't buy the original parts, you can only open it frequently to check the oil seal.

There is a proverb in my country

Distant water cannot quench nearby thirst

Moreover, the dealer's original accessories may be more valuable than the machine itself. Considering that the AV1 is an old device, it seems unnecessary to spend a huge amount of money.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean.
Maybe it's the translation software.
Part 11 I removed has a spring, and both machines have it.
Maybe someone else has removed it and installed this oil seal.
But it looks like an original accessory.
The maintenance manual does mention that the motor compartment has an oil seal without a spring,
The propeller assembly oil seal has a spring.
There is a metal shell.
Do you mean that the propeller oil seal can be used normally after the spring is removed?

Have you used both the one with and without the spring? How is the effect? Will water get in?

A good practice is to fill a garage can up with fresh water and run the scooter in it for several seconds and let it soak for a minute. Yes you need new bearings.

I think these are the bearings you want, from my experience but check if it makes sense.

Also you need this stuff to seal the bulkhead when you end up pulling it.
