5 years ago I acquired this reg. The dive shop who sold it to me said it was from the manufacturer of poseidon. It had no poseidon brand on it. It cost less than $180 bucks a set. I've taken it on a couple of deco dives and was okay.

I do DIR but with DIR guys around I feel insecure with it.

If you've heard or have it (subgear), please share your experience before I do something crazy like listing it on ebay.

What are the chances of having the camera focus on the reg instead of the table?

Either read me the numbers & text off the bottom & wheel or post some pics in focus please.
A couple wholesalers used Poseidon 1st stages & you need not fear the DIR guys, if you look closely you'll see quite a few Poseidon 1st stages in use.
The only (almost modern) Poseidon 1st stage not in "compliance" is the #2305 that had the G1/8" threads (those are about 35 years old)
Non-3/8" & 7/16" UNF threads are frowned upon because some of your buddies may not be able to steal your hoses if they wreck one of theirs.

What's the 2nd stage look like?

Yep, that's a Jetstream all right. The #3960 indicates a stock later model Jetstream configuration with a #3790 1st stage (very popular 1st stage, it's still the current model).
The little round hole on the bottom is the outlet of an overpressure valve.
It's been a while since they made the blue covers (they also had red covers & bodies)
They only make black, green & yellow covers now, and yellow or black bodies.
Heck of a deal for $180; the current retail of the 1st stage alone is $360!!!

I guess it's the real deal.........so none of these went to the USA?

I think I can shed some light over this regulator ...

Yes, it is a Poseidon Jetstream, manufactured in 1997. It was intended for the Asian market, where it was suppused to be sold by SUBGEAR.

SUBGEAR was started by an asian company (Soniform) that manufctured early Poseidon BCDs, and they were supposed to sell regulators. But the whole thing was called off when Soniform was bought by Scubapro.

There's only about a hundred of those manufactuired, so it's a rare item... But besides the cosmetic differences, it is a 3790 Jetstream.

Geeze, now I don't feel so bad about not having seen one before; at only 100 made, that critter belongs in the Smithsonian (or at least diving in freshwater).
Fill us in again on how to decipher the serial number into "year made"?
Hey Jörgen, did I ever send any pics of this bad boy?
