Anyone had any dive experience with the 'new' recreational version of the Poseidon Xstream? Pros/ cons? Pricing? Availibility? One LDS quoted me $629 (not including octo) and didn't have it in stock, but says once ordered only takes a couple days to deliver.

I've got 3 Odins....which I really like.........so how does it compare to the Odin? What's the max EANx rating? (40%)? ...if so, how much to 'upgrade' to use it beyond EAN40?

Thanks,

Karl

I just got one from a shop in Sweden at about USD 700 with octo and long hose and tried it last weekend. I have never used an Odin, only a Mares and Scubapro. I liked Xstream very much. Very easy to breath in the long hose.

It is quite heavy and the yoke adapter is clumsy (if you need that). I asked about the max EAN rating and was told it is 40%.

thanks TJO.........I used both Mares regs (Voltrex and Ruby) and the Poseidon Odin.......and like them both a lot. My tanks can use either Yoke or DIN....but I'd need the Yoke adapter on trips as many overseas locations only have Yoke valve tanks available. I suppose I could have it upgraded to take more than EAN40 if needed, since Poseidon makes models for up to EAN100.

What do people use that 5th LP port for..?

Good question, I hear that some people use the second HP for air intergrated wireless computers.

So after you have used up 2 for regs, 1 for BC, 1 for Drysuit inflation.... and you still have one spare.

I'm sure someone will tell us

=-)

ok im confused. i have checked posiedens site and only see 5 versions of the xstream and the max i have seen is a first stage with 3 lp and 1 hp ports(and they are still depth rated for 200 meters ) , so were or what is this 5/2 port version ?

ok im really confused

The 5/2 1st stage came out as a direct result of customer requests for it, many folks that dive a lot with singles asked for it & Poseidon responded.
I do fine with the 1/1 on my Xstream Duration in single tank mode.
The 5/2 info has only been sent to dealers so far as I'm aware.
Word of mouth (or scuttlebutt on the web) gets around pretty fast.

There are BCs/wings with redundant bladders - and thus redundant inflators.
Some folks - including myself - prefer this to rather than use the drysuit as a backup BC.
The opinions on whether it's actually worth it differ but hey, the opinion on pretty much anything do.
I think it's pretty good for cases when your 1st stage fails, assuming you're using two 1st stages of course.
5LP hoses would allow you to use it with only one 1st stage, but I think it's more limted use. It would help you only in the case of the BC's bladder being punctured, but I think whatever puntured your BC would likely puncture both.

Does anyone really use a redundant BC bladder for single tank drysuit diving?

.......well, it wasn't so much that I need 5 LP ports right now (although being able to use them to 'drive' a redundant bladder is nice when that day comes for me)....but I wanted at least 2 HP ports........one for my air-integrated computer and one for my analog guage set.
They're available for sale, but being a pricey item the local shops don't stock it......but can get it in in a couple days once special ordered.
