A might bit nipply :D

I went last year about the same time. We rented a pontoon boat ( Crystal Lodge I think) at the place next to Charlies, just past Bird's. Begged to be towed back to the dock in the water because it was warmer than in the air:rofl3:

Scuba shops that prey on tourists and have bad customer service do not care about "word of mouth." The internet and forums like this may change that in the future. If I had to guess, people who are planning trips nowadays probably do their research.

Very true, we're heading down to Florida next week for our AOW certifications. Now I know at least one place to avoid after we get our certs.

This is your first post on SB. Very interesting.

And, this new poster resurrected a 10 month old thread. :coffee:

I've been on boats where there were a few stragglers. If the boat is ready to leave, and they show up when everyone is on board and about to take off that maybe a case to leave them behind. In this case it sounds like they were there before anyone had boarded. Carrying on 4 tanks takes less time than arguing about it, and berating the customer.

Most dive OPS request people be there 30~60 minutes early to accommodate those that will be 45 minutes late. I don't know how this op works.
Indeed and another thing is that as they where booked prior to coming, why hadent they been smart enough to carry their tanks to the boat in the first place? Worst thing that would happen was that theid have a couple of spare tanks with them if they didnt show up..

Umm.. didnt realize till after id replied that this thread is ooold..

Yeah, sorry about that. I have a tendency to accidentally reawaken zombie threads on forums when I'm trying to read up on a subject.:shakehead: (Manatee trips in this case)

I was over on Scubatoys reading up on things while getting ready for our trip and there was a link there to a thread about some sort of manatee hassling so that's how I ended up waking this particular zombie. I REALLY need to pay better attention to post dates.

Somehow I then ended up trapped in a 20 page thread about the dangers of wetsuit removal... :)

Hey you do have a good sense of humor, welcome to ScubaBoard and welcome to Florida...LOTS of great dive ops here and lots of good advice too!

No worries on the resurrection. The whole point of this thread is to make people aware of this company. I'm glad you posted - hopefully they/AP will get the picture that their business practices are unacceptable and we/SB do reach other divers :)

So how did you like the world's funniest thread

That's perfectly ok, this thread needs to be bumped at least once a month during primetime manatee season so everyone doesn't forget who NOT to dive with. If anyone needs further evidence, read the "abuse of manatees" thread. :)
