Yeah, they are probably calling a half spool because spools are normally associated with the HP side.

To lubricate (not grease) the o-ring use a small amount of christolube or other O2 compatible lubricant. Do not use an oil based lubricant (aka grease) or a silicon lubricant.

I forgot to install the swivel / spool / flow restrictor in my Uwantec transmitter. I realised my error after one dive (when the pressure did not show on my watch, which is a old Uwatec Gallileo Luna) and put the flow restrictor back in. Now, I am able to read my pressure on my watch if I hold it right against the transmitter but if I move it just a few inches away I don't get a reading on the watch. Both the watch and transmitter batteries are brand new. Could installing without a Flow Restrictor break the transmitter?

Double check the batteries. New batteries may be bad. But as noted above it could be the antenna or another issue with either the transmitter or the computer receiver. If you can get access to a new transmitter see if that works. If so then you know it is your transmitter. If it does not work then likely your computer. Basically do a round robin series of tests to isolate the issue.

As Inquis mentioned, not having the flow restrictor will not break your transmitter. Since you are able to get pressure reading on your dive computer holding it against the transmitter, then I recommend pulling the "new" batteries and checking them with a volt-meter. I would not be surprised if you find that your new batties show lower voltage than expected. I am not sure what battery your transmitter uses, but some use specilized batteries such 1/2AA...if you purchase one of these from a shop or other source that does not have a lot of product turnover, then purchased battery may have sat on the self for quite a while and discharged below its rated capacity. So, check the voltage of both the computer's battery and the transmitter's before worrying too much about whether something is damaged.

Be sure to let us know what you find.

...it sounds like the antenna in the computer is broken. I suggest you get your local shop involved.
This is most likely the answer to your problem, classic symptoms. If you have a 2nd compatible computer you can test that the transmitter is still working normally or do it at your LDS.

I have had 3 broken antennas on my Terics since 2019 and reported them on my Teric repair/replacement thread

Just to close this out. I tested the batteries (both on the dive computer and the transmitter) with a voltmeter and they are both showing good voltage readings. This led me to conclude that the antenna on my Uwatec Gallileo Luna must be broken (unfortunately I can't test the transmitter with another dive computer as it is not compatible with any of the other computers we have in the dive group). It's a pity since I really like the big number display and compass feature on the Gallileo Luna.
