Does go to show that the airlines are capable, when they want to, of allowing people to make their connections.
Wild story there. I've been flying off & on for 50+ years, so I have been through some of those. On one trip to The Netherlands for a Mensa convention decades ago, I was going to meet a buddy in Atlanta for the overseas flight, then he invited his disabled ex-wife - who I would meet in DFW. I said "Do Not Fail To Meet Our Plane In Atlanta!" Sure enough, our DFW-ATL flight was canceled after we boarded. I had a Crown Room membership then and some influence so the disabled lady & I went there for drinks while the concierge there worked on our tickets. My bud in ATL was in that Crown Room on a pass I gave him, saw our plane was canceled, went to the desk, and was told "Someone is changing all of your tickets as we speak." We flew to Frankfurt, got lost in the airport, I called the First Class lounge, and they sent someone to escort us to the lounge until our next plane to Amsterdam. Once we got there, we filed baggage claims and then learned about the railroads! It continued to get crazy after that even, but this story is long enough.
Then there was the time I was going to fly to Virginia with a Marine Corps Reserve squad on a government group ticket, but overslept. I got to the airport, M-14 slung on my shoulder, and begged. They found the record, saw it was one Marine short, and sent me to Dallas where I repeated the begging thru a couple of more planes. I did arrive in Quantico sometime that night.
And there have been other adventures. Many, many adventures.
