This just makes me glad that I had a friend that encouraged me to gain the skills to dive deep SAFELY...........stupid is as stupid does, these boys will be hurting sooner than later.....

Jay, you may be on to something with the "Alt" settings on the computer, but diving to 200' on air, AND on singles, is STILL WAY DUMB.(yea, I know you know that).

Hey Rockjock,

Just a quick question about the altitude setting -- do you know of any computers that actually do this? The altitude settings on the Suunto computers (and Oceanic, IIRC) simply change the deco tables, they don't adjust the depth reading because of lower atmospheric pressure at the surface.

Granted, it could be a couple of guys lying by using a bummed computer. That might help to explain the long, deep dive that they've filmed. Then again, maybe that dive just started counting at snorkel depths... who knows.

My Uwatec does. I dont know enough about different computers that are available though to identify what computers they have. If they have bummed computers they both would have to be screwed up the same though. Maybe not, they dont show them at the same time.

Why do you think that they are Europeans? Are Europeans divers crazy?

yes. (I love this pic, lol)

I thought it was an Italian wetsuit, I only watched it once, I could be wrong. Think Enzo...

I for one like your posts Tim...
I KNOW Canadians don't dive deep air. ...and post about it

Well, I looked up the Nitek He manual and it does adjust for altitude, but does so automatically up to ~19k feet. So, my theory is out. In fact the computer shows 4 minutes dive time and 2 minutes NDL left and 1.9ppO2 (now that I know the info layout on the screen from the manual) on the 293fsw dive. Of course they could have trimix in their tanks and just be saying they are diving on air. That makes a little more sense albeit still unsafe due to diving on a single. Methinks that might also make sense as why pay the money for trimix computer and then use it to dive deep on air? I just don't know anymore.

Highly doubt they are diving trimix...why would they be lying...? 293' on air. Either way they are idiots...at least some clown from a newspaper won't report that I didn't tell them that they are idiots when the time comes for people to be sued...

But how can you tell if they are diving air?

On the other hand, the guy is bald as a doorknob and looks like he has made it this far....
those were not young guys, I don't think. I mean he did not have one hair on his head.
Kind of a nice boat!

He is wearing freediving fins, makes me think he is one of that crowd maybe.

I am personally offended by the fat, bald guy cracks... I'm big boned and carry a lot of water weight...

Agreed, Idiots with all caps. I ran my theories to ground so I guess with nothing else left then they are truly intellegence-deficient people trying to kill themselves for no good reason. Here, here, more space in the ocean for the rest of us when they take themselves out.

You should be you big, fatty, fat, bald type person.:D By the way, when are you bringing your shiny head back this way for a couple of dives? I made your yellow tank naked now. Got plenty of deco bottles for you to get out with.
