I am not a macro-enthusiast, so take this with a grain of salt. Also I don't want to spoil your anticipation - but I found Komodo macro/muck underwhelming, see my report on Scuba Junkie. Likewise, I heard rave reviews about Komodo's night dives, and found them very tame. For me it was all about mantas, reefs and fish-soup - but that was absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend against skipping the northern signature sites, especially if you haven't been there before. We are also into macrophotography, so it's encouraging that you did some macro dives.
Unless you jump into split-current, Batu Bolong is dived on the protected side, so not much current expected. Though at one time on the surface (I think at Batu Bolong), it sounded like a white water river - in the middle of the ocean. That was a bit scary. Most dives I did, even batu balong, the current wasn't too bad.
Yes, most of the time I also found Mawan to be more impressive. For rare nudis and other strange critters, I preferred Alor by a lot - and I say that as someone who is more "wide angle" oriented. The manta point site is unfortunately a dynamited reef so it's mainly rubble, but I still found a couple nudibranch in the rubble.
