Are there actual number for the amount of people who dived and/or freedived for lobster on wed and thursday? I know that the charter we went with even had 5 people from out of state on board (all licensed of course) - since the FWC met the boat at the dock and measured everyone's catch.
But if ever at any other time during the year - there is a 2 day span with the highest diver numbers actually in the water around the state of Florida, I can't think of what it is other then mini-season.
Just by the sheer number of people in the water either freediving or on SCUBA, the rules of "percent chance of incident" must become a factor here.
Let us not forget that many of the deaths caused during mini season are from boats hitting people, and not actually becuase of bad divers.
Let me also say for the record, that the only thing I take from the ocean is pictures. I don't hunt, or take lobsters. Nor do I eat those nasty bugs. But my wife lobsters, and she likes to eat them too.
