I just want to note a common thread. While many have noted that a distressed diver may or may not push the mask onto the forehead, it has been almost universally observed that a distressed diver will spit out his regulator. Therefore, a better signal to indicate distress would be to look for...
You get this automagically. The process of cramming air into the tank causes that air to be heated. Air is a terrible conductor, so even if the tank is cooled, the air inside will be much hotter for many hours until it all drops to ambient temperature. I'm not going to do the math, but I would...
It is not a false reading. That is the pressure at that temperature. If the temperature goes down the pressure will go down. If you don't put any more air in the tank the number of O2 molecules in the tank remains the same.
There's several problems with LDSs setting up any kind of online presence.
First, if there's only one shop in town, it probably only sells ScubaPro. Thus, they'd have nothing to sell on the internet.
Second, they can't compete on the internet because they'd have to discount. This means...
This isn't realistic accounting. It's like saying any given long distance phone call costs $40 because AT&T had to pay for the infrastructure and the electricity.
Diving the Keys in shallow water is great for a new diver. Focus on controlling your bouyancy in less than 20ft and doing skills in midwater at 10-15ft. Once you get those under control, you'll be in great shape for deeper dives. And you'll see lots of cool stuff while you're doing it.
Over the last year, I've jumped in the water with a variety of people. It's always a blast to watch everyone scurrying to secure their free flowing regs. The nice thing about my Atomic SS1 and B2 is that I never have to monkey with the adjustments. The SS1 can go into the water any which way and...
I've been really please with the AP Valves Buddy DSMB.
It's funnel is fairly easy to fill and the material is textured not slick, so it's pretty easy to handle underwater. I have the yellow/orange one.
Anybody got photos or a website that show how steel tanks are made?
I assume they are cold worked from disks or some such thing, but would like to see the process.
Thanks All. I mostly asking to see if there were any conditions that I might not have considered. Based on the responses, there was not really anything that I overlooked in my decision making process except the love letters and panties in my glovebox. (Next time we'll take the wife's car to...
Rich, nice post. Now the only thing left to deal with is me.
I own the apple orchard and decide to sell online. I can still undercut you because I still get my profit and I can take 1/2 of yours and still sell for less than you. My expenses for my online apple shop are the same as yours. I...
So doesn't it boil down to "stuff that can kill you the fastest should always get the highest priority." ?
Same as Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, you shoot the baddest bad guy first.
I have a Brigade also and was only diving with 2 lbs.
Now thanks to this thread, I know I need to go out and buy some more lead to stuff into all those pockets.
