Just came back from a great liveaboard safari in south Sinai. It was organized by my dive club in Tel-Aviv, working together with Shark's Bay (Umbarak) diving club, just north east of Sharem. You can check it out at http://www.sharksbay.de/e_home.htm
It is the second time I am going on a...
Just had the opportunity to really try the TPII setup during a 4 day, 15 dives safari.
Worked great with one 15 liter steel tank and the rec wings.
Some adjustments are still necessary on the shoulder straps but the clean design makes this setup very comfortable for the kind of dives I do...
Anyone has any experience with this setup?
The tank being a steel LP 104. I am sure that for doubles this setup should work, but I also do a lot of single tank diving.
I am thinking of switching to the Diverite setup and some more info wouldn't hurt.

Listen to this.
About 3 weeks ago a main sewage line burst in the city of Tel-Aviv, on the shores of the Med (in Israel). In order not to flodd the southren part of the city, It was decided to drop 200,000 cubic meters of raw sewage into the Med each day, untill the line is rebuilt.
As a...
A little late, I know, but I am in sunny Eilat, by the Red-Sea and mostly UW. So please forgive me for the late greetings.
Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year to all of the Scuba Board members their family and friends. May we have more time to dive next year, rather than having to deal with...
A question to all of you guys who are brewing mixtures.
Is there a problem with using HP, 300 bar, tanks for Nitrox or, for that matter, other mixtures?
Ari
What would you consider to be the differences between these 3 manufacturers?
What would be you choice of wing (which will work for both singles and doubles)?
I know that this issue was already discussed from different angle. I am just trying to put some order in the information and to...
This will not interest you directly, but just as a thought...
After a few tragic accidents, some fatal, the Israeli diving authority (yes, we have something like this), published a regulation obligating new divers to have at least 20 guided dives (including those of the diving classes) before...
Anyone already read the new Bruce Wienke book?
Would you recommend it the non-tech divers (or tech divers to be)?
I will be very interested to hear. I am in the USA next week and will be very happy to pick up a copy at Barnes & Noble.
Ari :book:
Yes, I know this was discussed before but what is your favorite Deco Software?
I downloaded GAP, which looks and works very nice and is free. What is YOUR favorite?
Ari :)
Can blood clots be connected to diving and/or decompression? One on my diving buddies had a problem with a blood clot in his arm and he is interested to know if it might be connected with the sport.
He is about 50 years old and dives a lot on a regular basis, for the past 35+ years (probably...
Just signed up for a DM class starting next week. I am just doing it in order to become a better diver. I don't really think I will make a career out of it.
I can get either a PADI or SSI certification. Any thoughts on what's better?
Ari :)
Just came back from Sinai last night from a short 3 day Safari. Getting there and back is a simple thing, it just involves a lot of driving (in Israeli standards).
Diving was done through the Shark's Bay diving club, 12 km north east to Sharem. Getting to around Ras-Nasrani and the Tiran...
What would be you favorite technical diving reading material, if any?
I am looking for a good textbook, to serve as reference and was wondering if someone might have any favorite readings.
Ari :)
I had a very interesting experience this morning. A visit to the Hyperbaric Chamber in Haifa (Israel) including a lecture from Dr. Yehuda Melamed, former chief MD for the Israeli Navy and an expert on decompression.
Dr. Melamed took us through a 2 hour lecture on N2 narcosis, followed by a...
