Same here. I stay within about 10 feet down to about 40 feet then close the gap to no more than 5 feet as I go deeper. Particularly with dive buddies I am not familiar with.
As with the others, I dive an OC1 A/I, but keep my old Mares Puck on my BCD and an SPG on the boat should there be a problem. I may have a dive cut short, but will not lose a whole trip.
When packing up dive gear at the end of the dive day I witnessed a diver holding her very wet Gear bag and computer and a very puzzled look on her face. When asked if something was wrong... "I don't know where to put my computer. If I put it in my bag it will get wet." Sometimes it is just...
To try and answer your questions simply, yes there are watch computers out there from several manufacturers. I have dove with a Mares Puck and the Oceanic OC which are both great computers at different ends of the cost and functional spectrums. There importance is something only you can answer...
That's too bad. Did 3 years at Campbell, Nashville is great. Spent 2 months at Sill a couple years ago doing some pre mob training. Not a great place to be a pilot. Good luck, and make the best of it.
I have friends that spearfish in the Gulf. Not for me me. I go to Pensacola or Destin. It can be a drive, but it is the closest decent diving I have found.
Check out the thread below. There are many others following the development.

I concur. Had about 60 dives on it before I upgraded to A/I but always consistent and matched the depths, temps, and times of my dive buddies. As previously mentioned ensure you are set for the proper water salt/fresh so the density is correct.
I prefer AC myself because there are more options for dining and entertainment. My mother, who is 62, also likes AC for the same reason. Plus there were some day trip options available when she couldn't dive.
It has been awhile, but the rescue diver questions were very straightforward questions from material right out of the book. Know the material and you should be OK. As for the master diver it is a lot of diving physics such as computing how many PS I of air at a given depth would it take to lift...
I have always been around the water growing up on lake Erie, but never thought too much about going under. My choice in vocation has sent me through Central America several times when the underwater world was shared with me and I was hooked. As a DM of only 4 months now I got a chance to be that...
Sadly, my computer is a few years old and the graphics card is not supported. I have been through the training sessions and I really liked them, and would recommend them to anyone.
I agree. Review your S&P manual page 2.76 and 2.81 to see the qualifications of each. An AI can assist an instructor, that is pretty much it. A DM can assist AND lead dives for certified divers and conduct and organize NAUI recognition programs. Much more responsibility as a DM, and why the...
J.R., did my Divemaster in December with Alton, great operation. There is plenty to see off of the dock there and ample opportunity for snorkeling on the boats with many of the sites being rather shallow. The water is clear with lots of life. You shouldn't have to venture to far for snorkelng...
