@Zef

In my case, I'm experimenting with Independent BM Doubles for travel instead of my BM Single and slung pony.

My left tank reg will feed a single LH (reversed) reg on the left and inflator.
Right tank will be configured for standard recreational primary and octo (no inflator hose).

Assuming I am comfortable with them upon receipt tomorrow, with these breakaways I'll boltsnap all regs since they can be actually secured reliably and easily released, via unclipping for routine use, or a pull in an emergency.

Anyway, I found the perfect item, and it's inexpensive. Get some "Silicone Magnetic Cable Ties"

Have you had them in salt water for any period of time? I have had corrosion problems with permanent magnets that were not hermetically sealed.

Share some pictures when you do, I'd love to see uses out in the wild!

Not yet. The magnets are coated inside silicone, and theoretically shouldn't have any issues, unless there's a break in the silicone. If there is enough interest, I could mix up some water, and salt, and toss one of these magnets in there for a few days. Different brands may have variations in manufacture quality, or type of silicone used.

When I dived a traditional 2nd, I liked the Scubapro retainer

I've been looking at different retaining options for my octopus, lots of great suggestions and links in this thread for me to dig into more, thanks!

Feel free to ask question here as well, including about the off-the-shelf ones. I've tried a good number of the regulator/hose/etc retainers on the market.

Interesting DIY although I myself will not wear anything magnetic. Tried a ScubaPro magnetic keeper years ago. I used it a few dives before I shelved it because it messed up my compass.
I use this. I have 'used' it 100's of times performing SM S-drills and it's still good as new.
