Being the guarantor of a foreign tourist brings a lot of responsibility and potential problems:
Imigrasi Press Release : THE IMPORTANCE OF INDIVIDUAL OR CORPORATE VISA GUARANTOR FOR FOREIGNERS OVERSIGHT IN INDONESIA (23 Feb 2022)
The return of the Indonesian tourism industry after the Covid-19 virus storm has attracted the enthusiasm of travel fans around the world. Along with this, foreigners from various countries are constantly seeking information about permits to enter Indonesian territory to enjoy the beauty of the archipelago. Questions about Free Visit Visa (BVK) and Visa On Arrival (VOA) keep coming, considering that previously Indonesia provided these two facilities to foreigners from certain countries. However, now prospective foreign tourists must apply for a B211A Tourist Visit Visa with a guarantor classification that has been determined by the government.
“These questions can be understood, because before the pandemic, Tourist Visit Visas did not require a guarantor. However, the Directorate General of Immigration issued a policy that in recovering tourism and the national economy during this pandemic, foreign tourists must be guaranteed by a travel agency or hotel company based in Indonesia," said Director of Immigration Traffic, Amran Aris.
Amran said that his party had socialized and disseminated E-Visa to more than 400 participants in early February 2022 in Denpasar, Bali. The participants of the event are tourism industry players, such as travel agents and hotels. "In addition, the Directorate General of Immigration also involves the Kemenkomarves, Kemenparekraf and the Bali Provincial Government. The socialization aims to make the application for tourist visit visas easily accessible to the general public and not exclusive to certain parties,” he continued.
He emphasized that the stipulation of tourist travel bureaus and hotels as guarantors for Tourist Visit Visa applicants is intended to facilitate the supervision of foreigners. Travel agencies/hotels that register as guarantors have full obligations to monitor the activities and whereabouts of foreigners, starting from the rented rooms to the foreigner's travel plans until the day of his return to his country of origin. They must cooperate with immigration officials to ensure foreign tourists do not violate or disturb public order.
